HD5 Ceiling Fan Remote Replacement (Only Remote)

I have an old Hunter fan. The original remote has a light, 3 fan speeds, and a reverse button. This seems to match this HD6 remote perfectly. However, my original remote has 5 dip switches, and this remote only has 4. Will it work? How do I set the 4 switches when mine old one has 5? While searching the reviews for "Hunter", a came across a review posted by "Bykin" who figured out the number 1 switch on this remote does the work of switch 1 and 2 of my old remote. My old remote was set with 1-4 in the up position, and 5 in the down position. Based on Bykin's post, I set the new remote to 1-3 up, and 4 down, and all functionality worked perfectly! I'm putting this out here because I spent a lot of time trying to find a replacement with 5 switches, and wondering if this one would work. Bykin's post was from back in 2022 so I wanted to provide a more recent review hoping it might help others struggling with the same 5 switch question I was. All credit goes to Bykin. I'm just relaying what he/she found because it worked for me and ended my struggle. By the way, the remote is excellent. Wayyyyyyy better than my old one ever was. The buttons have nice tactile feedback, the range is excellent, and all functionality works great. If your old Hunter remote has 5 switches, give this a try. I think you;'ll be glad you did. I was.

Worked great with my ceiling fan. I didn’t have to make any adjustments at all.

Worked great once I adjusted the settings on the new remote to match the old one that had failed (see photo). Be sure to order the correct version. My old remote had a button to reverse the fan and I had to make sure the new remote matched the functionality of the old one.

Works well. Installation takes 5 minutes. Just need to check the 4 pins and flip them the same way as the original.

I had stepped on the original remote control for an older model ceiling fan with lights from Hampton Bay. Upon researching replacement remotes not being too optimistic, came across this item. Bought it based on its high 4+ star rating and thousands of purchases already listed. It arrived quickly and worked like the original remote right out of the box!! I did keep the broken remote to be able to see the existing dip settings on the old remote in case those were needed for setting up. original remote had factory set dip settings and the new remote arrived matching those. there are instructions to help you change those settings if it doesn't immediately work out if the box but I didn't need to make any changes. Finally, I could operate the ceiling fan. I had turned off the light and had the 3 speed fan set on medium before accidentally shattering the original remote and learned I could not manually access the fan or the light with just their pull cords. the new remote also looks identical to the original remote just without the Hampton Bay logo sticker. Highly recommend since it's near impossible to replace an original remote for a ceiling fan that is 17+ years old and still working like its new.
