Copper Sulfate Fine Crystals 50lb Bag

This product is very fine, almost like a dust, so you have to spread it on a COMPLETLY calm day, or it will blow around everywhere. With that said, it also works extremely well on killing algae. We have had a big algae bloom this year on area ponds, more so than I have seen in a long time. I walk around the shore of my pond with a small pail of it and simply cast it out with a nitrile gloved hand while wearing a dust mask. You don't have to put it out heavily either, just a light dusting and that nasty geen stuff is turning brown within an hour or so. This type of copper sufate is actually made to add to livestock feed as a trace mineral for the animal, that's why it so dang fine. But boy, what a bargain price for the 50 pound bag! It will go a very long way, I won't use all of it this year and will have plenty left for using it if I need it next year. Just keep the unused portion it it's bag in a 5 gallon plastic bucket with the lid on it, out of the way of children and pets.

Luckily, my pond is fed by a small stream that runs year round. I add this upstream and let the mixing and dissolving occur while it makes its way to the pond. About 5lbs per acre foot of water. Once a week. Could dissolve in a bucket ahead of time, but I let the stream do that work. Turns out to work quite well - about 1/3 the cost for similar copper delivery using pond treatment liquids vice this feed grade powder. We’ll see how the season turns out. Filamentous algae browns up in about two days after treatment. Fish are fine and thriving.

Easy to handle and very fine. Cannot be broadcast as there is an extreme amount of fines that just float off in the air. As good as it gets if you need to dissolve crystals in water and very cost effective. Only minor dust while pouring into a 5 gallon bucket. If you are using in large sprayer, I premixed in water before pouring into the sprayer but I had to stick my hand into clean out hole of the 25 gallon tank to agitate the fines off the bottom so that the pump would pick them up, and you will want to remove the pickup screen or it will clog. Comes packed in a plain cardboard box which is adequate and easy to open. The bag itself is a standard paper lined with plastic and it does have a vent so a small amount of dust will escape as the bag is being handled. Best opened with a box cutter.

FOr pennies vs big bucks. It kills sewer root and make our massive pool algae free. Even Mustard algae. Just don't over do the amount and dissolve fully then pour into skimmer.

This is EXACTLY what we were needing and looking for. It works perfectly to keep our 1-acre pond clean and algae free. We have tried copper sulfate from local dealers and the granules are not fine enough and it just doesn’t work like this formula. We will definitely be purchasing this again and again. It’s also a tad bit cheaper than what we have to choose from locally.

The product I received was only 25% copper sulfate it is NOT 99% pure. It takes four times as much of this to get a pound of copper plant food in your soil. Sprayed this through a mounted ag sprayer it dissolves well and held in suspension with a host of other mixed herbicides, insecticides, and fertilizers. I would advise dissolving it in a bucket before introducing it to the sprayer as I had to stir it several times to get it completely dissolved.
