Does it need to be seasoned?

NO...the ceramic surface is not porous so trying to season it would be totally pointleess. i use a small pan to make omelets & it does a fantastic job.

Any recent buyer: does the non-stick coating quickly become not very 'non-stick' (as mentioned in some reviews)?

Yes, my review was one of them...I think putting it in the dishwasher hurried the process along, but I'm not too impressed with this pan. Like the idea of not having cancer-causing teflon, but it's not as great. My big Aldi ceramic nonstick pan didn't have this issue...might just be the brand of this one that's not as quality.
