Teach Yourself Visually Windows 10

The TEACH YOURSELF VISUALLY series of books are excellent. I've used them for previous versions of MIcrosoft software and found them easy to use and extremely helpful. Their explanations are clear and easy to understand. Many color illustrations help the reader work with the new information they contain. LIke the other books in this series, this Windows 10 book has become my "bible". It answers so many questions about how to use this new software. I bought it sight unseen because I KNEW it would be helpful. ..and it has been.

A friend of mine recently purchased a new computer with Windows 10 on it. I bought this book because I wanted to be able to help him with the use of his new machine. He is not into the "tech stuff" very much. I found the book very helpful with much of the things that you will find to be different from Windows 7 or 8.1. The book is very basic and walks you through the various sections with excellent visuals and simple step by step instruction. Once you get past the basic stuff, the books just does not keep up and I suspect another more in depth source will be needed. I anticipate needing to eventually upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 on my computer so I am glad I bought this book for starters. After the Windows 10 operating system gets all (or most) of the little bugs out, I'll need a more inclusive source of information. But for now, my friend thinks I'm very helpful. Hey, that's what friends are for, right!

I've had earlier versions of books in this series and find the text very concise and understandable and the pictures a real joy, since you know what you're looking for. I use this book in conjunction with the longer and much more detailed "Windows 10: The Missing Manual." The two together help me resolve any problem that arises and also are great tutorials if I'm going to undertake some new uses that I'm not already familiar with.

This manual is an excellent tool for all users , who, like me needed expertise from knowledgeable users of Widows 10. I highly recommend this manual to others users, who are also pleased with the easy to read, and understand formats. The screen pictorials make learning so much more easy to learn. I am using Windows 10 and own a copy of this book. The value of the book is in the "visually" that is in-bedded in the title. This is the third book in the "Visually" series I have purchased. I find it not nearly as useful as the one for Photoshop or Android. What you will get with this book is a lot of high quality screenshots of only the most basic uses of the operating system, and where their buttons to click are located. Likewise for the many apps that come with Windows 10. The book is task oriented. Want to shut down your PC? Go to the index and look for "shutting down Windows". You'll be directed to page 7 where you'll find the numbered steps for shutting down Windows. Each numbed step has a corresponding number on a screenshot indicating the button to push. Being dyslexic, I like this type of quick reference a whole lot, but the scope of the operating system and the generous bundle of apps Windows 10 includes is too great to be thoroughly covered by screenshots. I will be using this book, but I find myself wanting a detailed manual, possibly Windows 10 Inside Out.

Need to find an answer about Windows 10??? Just open this book and find the answer quickly! As your reading and looking at the pictures it takes you step by step 1, 2, 3. making it EASY TO LEARN. or go back over to find something you missed. Colorful pictures are a good visual to look at as you read the numbered instructions. It's making what seems to be hard to understand, as easy as opening up this book and finding its not hard to learn!

I'm a "senior" and yes, my close-up vision is awful now, but this book is laid out so clearly and cleanly that I have absolutely no problem reading it. The pictures do help. And for any other doddering old fools out there who can only infer that we're all too outdated and dumb to learn Windows 10? It's not much different from anything else. Yes, Gen Xers and Millenials have changed the names of some things (Programs are now all Apps), but so what? It's the same stuff. I bought this book instead of the Seniors/Dummies book (how insulting is that?) book because of the reviews, and I'm glad I did. Clear, concise, and easy to deal with, my only complaint is that the index should be cross-referenced. (Some things should stay the same, guys, like a decent index.) A good purchase.

This book is a life saver and very useful to users new to computers using the Windows 10 operating system. The screenshot photos show you exactly what the screen should look like and the step-by-step instructions tell you exactly what keys to press or where on the screen to touch. Photos are so very important to those of us who are visual learners. If you are a visual learner this book is for you. The 'Teach yourself VISUALLY' Series is the ideal way to get started when you need to SEE it rather than just read about it to fully grasp a topic.

Great reference and easy guide to use. There are good uses for the beginner and the more experienced user. I just needed the basic to help me transfer from Win 7 to Win 10 and this was the best way to do it.

I understand tech but windows 10 is just a prat at times to get this that or the other sorted, so much bloat and needless apps always running, This book is simple to use and easy to follow, even my father-in-law has borrowed it and he's totally change how his pc works (for the better!) My 15year old daughter has had a browse too and reckons it's better than the ones handed out in school. I still preferred my windows 7 and XP systems, so much more intuitive to use! oh well progress isn't always for the best! This has and no doubt will prove to be a really good buy!

Good for beginners to intermediate. Well laid out. Pictures and text easy to understand and read. Highly recommended.

Arrived quickly, was easy to follow and helped a lot as I hadn't had a laptop before only a tablet. Would have liked more information on copying music but was good for basics

This book is typical of the 'Teach Yourself Visually' series, consisting of annotated screen dumps following the steps required for the various tasks required to use a Windows 10 computer. Many users will find this a more user-friendly approach than most computer texts and the 340 pages will have at least on image on each.
