I had to replace a carbon monoxide detector that was way overdue for a change. It was an AICO model but the square version. I upgraded to the latest 3000 series unit. Because it was a carbon monoxide detector the original installer decided not to link this to the other smoke and heat detectors. I can understand why as carbon monoxide really only affects people in that room. I wanted it to sound just one of the other smoke detectors outside of that room, this is where these little boxes of tricks came into play. I installed 1 in the carbon monoxide detector and one in the smoke detector. Please remember they are all hardwire linked except the carbon monoxide detector. Now, when the carbon monoxide detector goes off it sounds just 1 smoke detector. If that smoke detector detects smoke it sounds all alarms in the house - perfect!

If system goes off, only reset detector with the red light, or the entire system will go into Test mode and keep ringing.
