Small speakers that pack a punch
Majority has become a favorite of mine for audio equipment. I really enjoy the way they go the extra mile and provide a fantastic product for an affordable price. The speakers came packaged in a great way and included everything I needed to simply plug & play. I especially liked that the speakers included all necessary cables I could need including batteries for the remote. The remote has a simplistic but very useful design as well with independent bass and treble controls which I find some speakers I have used in the past lacking. I immediately tried connecting my phone to the speakers via Bluetooth which went perfectly, and the quality was fantastic. Afterwards I connected them via optical to my Samsung TV which was also a breeze and started putting them through the paces. I tested the speakers on different media such as music, video games and movies. The speakers handled them all well but really shine when playing music. I tried some classical music such as Piano Sonata No. 15 by Mozart. The speakers sounded crystal clear and represented all notes well. I am also impressed with the bass on the speakers relative to their size. I have other systems with dedicated subwoofers that give floor shaking bass but I cannot say I missed it all that much with the D40's. I found myself thoroughly enjoying watching the movie Luca with my family using the speakers and even had to turn them down at times because the action sequences were pretty loud. The finish of the speakers is also well done and provides a very appealing aesthetic. The nice black woodgrain design on the speakers really blends nicely into any system arrangement. The front glossy finish is very nice as well and overall, the design of the speakers has piqued the interest of visitors I have had, they are truly eye catching. They are truly unique in design as well, I have not used active bookshelf speakers before, but they provide much more placement options versus a traditional system. I like that I can spread them out farther apart if I want to create a more surround sound effect as the cord connecting the two speakers together is adequate length. I am sold on the active bookshelf design and hope to see new products from Majority in this realm. Overall, I am very happy with Majority thus far as they provide one of the best values to me in home audio equipment. All their products come with a 3-year warranty when registering online which truly takes no time at all. All of the products I have received from them have been excellent, including the D40's, the Teton soundbar (excellent value as well) and the smaller Atlas soundbar which packs a real punch for its size and is portable. I will continue supporting the company and spreading word of mouth about the excellent value Majority products provide to consumers at all levels. Pros: Very clear at all volume levels Excellent fit & finish Unique design & appeal Impressive bass for small speakers Very compact and do not take up much space Excellent packing by the company and value for providing all necessary components Cons: Max volume alert on speakers could be lower Built in sound profiles for Movie/Music/Dialog would be a nice addition A trigger to let you know what level the bass/treble is set on currently when adjusting it The cons I listed are minor and can be overlooked in favor of the excellent value these speakers provide. In addition, they are from a great company that truly cares about providing the customer a fantastic experience overall. Buy them you will not be disappointed!

Blown Away...Sound Quality And Value Way Above What One Should Expect At This Size (And Price)
British electronics company Majority should have a major hit on its hands with their new D40 powered Bluetooth speakers. Offering clean, clear listening with a surprising amount of bass punch that belies their size, these versatile little wonders could very well be the foundation of a compact home entertainment center that punches way above its weight. Featuring a bevy of ways to get music to your ears, including Bluetooth, AUX in, USB and SD card slots, and even an optical TOSLINK connection, these little speakers can handle a wide range of sources, and I tried them all. These are not the exaggerated bass party boxes you might think of when someone mentions 'Bluetooth Speaker', where distorted volume trumps sonic accuracy. Majority doesn't provide detailed specs, but take it from a studio engineer/musician: you'll think your ears are deceiving you when you hear what emanates from these tidy little black boxes. While you won't feel the chest-rattling bass of a massive subwoofer, the 4" low frequency drivers put out a respectable amount of bass, due to the rear-ported cabinet design. Best of all, unlike so many other entry-level powered speakers, the D40s absolutely did not distort, even at top volume, no matter what I threw their way. A sampling of the playlist for this test: Steely Dan, "Babylon Sisters" (on vinyl) - One of my all-time reference tracks, featuring clean, deep bass, the wide, lush spread of a Fender Rhodes electric piano, tightly arranged vocals and horns, and the impossibly in-the-pocket groove of the great Bernard Purdie on drums. The D40s handle all this sonic information with grace, even at higher volumes than yacht-rock usually calls for. Missy Elliot, "Pass That Dutch" (Spotify, 320kHz) - There's a riot of bass going on in this classic track, and the Majority speakers are more than up to the task. Vocals are crisp, and all those clever Missy Elliot details are well-placed in the audio spectrum. Pink Floyd, "Comfortably Numb" (Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs remastered CD) - Another timeless track on a masterpiece of an album, this one showcases a wide variety of textures, from the immediacy of a direct-recorded Fender Bass, to the shimmer of David Gilmour's acoustic guitar that kicks off the bridge sections. The space that the D40s give to each instrument is impressive. And when that iconic electric guitar solo comes soaring in, the hair on my arm stood up...the midrange smear of many smaller budget speakers is nowhere to be found. Just pure, undiluted sonic ecstasy. Other test tracks include: The Killers, "The Man" Miles Davis, "So What" Chris Isaak, "Wicked Game" Marvin Gaye, "Trouble Man" David Bowie, "The Heart's Filthy Lesson" Henry Mancini, "Lujon" Leftfield, "A Final Hit" I also did a quick and dirty TOSLINK hookup to my TV, to see if they could handle some of the booming sonics of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", "Formula 1: Drive To Survive", and "Tron Legacy". While the D40s won't shake the foundations of your house like a dedicated subwoofer will, they reproduced the complex sonic information of these films very respectably, and again, without distortion. That, to me, is most impressive of all. All told, the Majority D40s are a major bargain at the list price, and at the discounted price, the value proposition is off the charts. Recommended without reservation.

Very good quality and sound for the price.
For the price these speakers would be tough to beat. They sound very good, look good, and perform as well as I hoped. A big positive is that they were recognized and connected instantly via Bluetooth, and that is not always the case with Bluetooth devices. Another thing I like is that they don't have an automatic shutdown like some Bluetooth speakers do, so whenever I want to play something from my laptop or tablets I don't have to turn them on and reconnect/pair. The only real negatives I'd mention is that the RCA cord that comes out of the secondary speaker to connect to the primary speaker is far too short (48in./121cm). I purchased a 6' RCA extension cable so I could place the speakers where I wanted. update: I've been happy with the sound quality of these small speakers, but there is another negative I want to add to my review...whenever the bluetooth connects or disconnects we get a LOUD voice stating "Bluetooth connected" or "Bluetooth disconnected". I use these in my bedroom and that LOUD voice is quite annoying. If that voice volume corresponded to the volume I have the speakers set to there would be no problem, but even when I have the speakers at very low volume, if they disconnect for some reason that damn voice shouts at me! While this is a rare occurrence, I feel like this is a irritating blunder from the designers of these speakers.

Impressive!
Impressive sound, quality, performance and packaging! I had purchased a Majority Teton sound bar for my flat screen about a month and a half ago and was so impressed that I thought I'd give the D40's a try for home audio! I'm glad I did! The D40's are a combination of the right size, great sound and very versatile connectivity. When you first open the packaging you will notice the care that was used to protect them and the quality of the speakers and it's accessories. the box has two speakers, a remote and everything you need to connect to your source of audio. We hooked our D40's up using a micro SD (TF) card for music and our tv with the optical audio cable. The D40's sound was impressive with clear highs and robust clean lows. the sound quality is consistent across all volume levels and is clean and crisp with all types of music! The D40's are best suited for a den, dorm, kitchen, workshop, or any medium sized room! The speakers can be loud but not "knock down a wall" loud. I wouldn't recommend them for a loud bar or business! We have listened to the D40's for two weeks now and like them best for everyday music, we also have used them for tv which works well but we like the sound bar voice isolation better! For most rooms and audio these speakers work very, very well! The D40's connect with bluetooth, optical audio, usb, aux and comes with micro usb also! The remote has on/off, mute, reset (flat), separate bass and treble, "mode"button and forward / back rocker and volume up / down rocker with play / pause button in the middle. The remote is not too small or to large and feels good in the hand! Overall, as you might be able to tell, I really like these speakers! I would buy them again and would recommend them to others! Longevity is a question I cannot answer yet but judging by the quality of the build, I think they will hold up well! I think Majority products are "up and coming" in the market and they are a good buy overall for what you get!

Fantastic pair of speakers! Very good audio quality, adjustability, and lots of features
These speakers knock it out of the park in terms of build quality and sound quality. I am comparing these to the Audio Engine A1s, which are a bit higher priced. These are definitely not studio monitors, but for many consumers, you don't need anything like that. The adjustability on these are fantastic, with Bass and Treble being controlled via the included remote (and they include batteries!!). Also, an RCA to 3.5mm cable is included which allowed me to instantly test them with my record player without needing extra adapters. The audio is surprisingly clear & audible when very low, and can get very, very loud! Great for parties, movies and shows with dynamic range. I connected these to my TV (Fire TV & Apple TV) via the included optical cable, and only had to change a couple settings to allow for seamless audio output to these speakers. I also was able to get the Apple TV remote to control volume on these speakers by pairing the IR remote to the TV! The only few downsides I've come across so far is that after a long period of inactivity, the mode will switch from USB/Optical back to AUX/Bluetooth on its own. So after the TV has been off for awhile, you'll have to switch the mode back to Optical for sound. If you do not connect a device via bluetooth, the speakers will automatically search for devices when in AUX/Bluetooth mode. This seems like it would use a relatively decent amount of power continuously if you don't plan on connecting a bluetooth device. This can be avoided by just turning them off with the remote, or switching them off on the back of the right speaker. The cable connecting the left to right speaker is hard-wired to left speaker, and is not super long. It barely allows for the speakers to be separated on both sides of a 40" TV. I wish the cable was its own piece and a longer one could be substituted. A subwoofer port would be nice I guess, but there's so many other features on these that it's hard to justify. The bass is also really good anyways. If you're going for a home theater setup you probably should just get something more designed for that. Overall, these speakers are AMAZING for the sub $100 price range, and I have a new favorite audio brand after today. //TL:DR// Pros: - great overall sound quality - thoughtfully included cables - bass & treble adjustments (doesn't get distorted even with highly adjusting both) - remote & included batteries - very multi-purpose Cons: - No auto power-off (might not be a con for some!) - Auto bluetooth pairing if you don't plan on using it for bluetooth - Default mode is AUX/Bluetooth (1 extra step if you plan on using these for daily TV usage) - The cable connecting left to right speaker is attached to left speaker, barely allows for the speakers to be separated on both sides of a 40" TV.

Great 4 inch woofer/tweeter system
Absolutely outstanding performance for the price. Good low end, midrange, and treble. Installation was simple. I use it on my echo dot 3rd gen via bluetooth and for that it works perfectly. I plan on getting an FM receiver to plug in via aux port. I have also prepared a USB thumb drive to plug into the USB port. All channels have been working great so far. All that AND great sound make this thing hard to beat for the price. Update: I received my fm receiver (line output) I connected it to the aux in port and it too has worked perfectly with these Majority D40 speakers.

Low Volume response
The speakers are no louder than the unit volume I hooked it up to. The quality of sound is better, but it isn't what I expected. Will reevaluate in the next day or two to whether or not to send back. Like the size and total wiring for multiple hookups. Also, there is no indication of lights, red or blue to let up know what mode you in.
