Yes. The size of this should easily accommodate a chess piece.

Q: Does it come with walls for each side to hold the material in? Do we afix a wall on one side of each piece ourselves?

Hello, These mold frames remain open. Once the casting sand is packed tightly into the frame there is no need for a "backing" and this open design allows you to add additional venting to the cavity if needed. Thank you!

Q: mold seems to be stuck together, any suggestions on how to seperate them?

I use a screw driver to pry them a part, just a lil pressure is all ya need, make sure to do on both side so you don't mess up the cast
