A reliable, tough, smooth spinning reel.
I use this reel (I have the 20) for inshore saltwater mostly but it's small enough to go back and forth for when I pond fish for bass as well. I've caught up to 25-inch redfish on it and it performs flawlessly even after the drag has been screaming after a big hit. I load it with 15 lb braid and have it paired on a custom 7 ft fast action rod I made specifically for this reel. I just bought this new one because my last one was used so much that the black plastic handle piece you grip to reel it in broke in half after 5 years of straight-up torture. The reel itself is still completely functional so I'm keeping that old one for parts. It's a solid buy and in my experience will serve you well freshwater or salt.

These little units are so well balanced and smooth operation, hauled in something oversized for this drag the other night and it handled the fight perfectly. Awesome little unit.

Been using them 7 years. Have about 12 in varying sizes. LOVE THEM!
These reels are excellent. I bought them for Carp fishing, and now I use them for pretty much everything. I use the ABF-20 for Light Bass, Walleye, Panfish rigs. ABF-30's for casting rods. ABF-40s and 55s for Catfish/Carp. The Baitfeeder feature is really handy in a variety of observations. They typically last for several seasons, and I put them through a LOT of big fish, especially the ones I use for Carp and Cats. I highly recommend them.
