Can anybody tell me definitively--no guessing please--that the aux input is stereo? Is it only inputting one channel (left or right), or summing them?

The system is just giving you a mono signal the subwoofer output on your receiver is just a mono signal unless you have a right and left output. I have never heard of right and left output before for a subwoofer, but I guess there is always a possibility.

Is this a good choice for a center channel speaker?

It may work for you, depending on your speaker, the amp on other speakers, the other speakers, your set up (assuming you have something to feed a distinct center channel) and your room. I wouldn't. How many volume controls do you want to get up and mess with? If you're trying for a home theater setup, you'll be happier with Amazon's entry level Onkyo 5.2 system at $329. Use the speakers you have and upgrade as you can afford. On the other hand if this is a dorm room, go for it.

I have a powered subwoofer but need to combine left and right channels with a cross. will this conflict with my powered sub?

probably not a good fit with a powered sub unless you are replacing the amp in that sub.

can it handle a 12 inch sub 200watts?

It can drive the speaker, but how well will depend on the efficiency of the speaker and not just the size and watts it can handle.

Excelente para convertir un subwoofer pasivo en activo.

Tenía un equipo de sonido Onkyo con subwoofer pasivo, hace poco lo reemplacé por uno nuevo que sólo tiene salida para subwoofer activo, mi subwoofer anterior aún servía, así que decidí comprar este adaptador y funcionó a la perfección.
