A router that works in the field.....literally a field !
I bought this outdoor 4G router to get reliable Wi-Fi where there’s no power or broadband, and it’s been a smart investment. The unit itself is tough, and shrugs off rain without complaint. Setup was simple enough, and it took my Smarty SIM card straight away with no messing about. Once connected, the four antennas give a steady signal - 2 for the signal for the O2 mast and 2 for the Wi-Fi...and it happily delivers fast speeds, more than enough for streaming or internet searching. A couple of things to note - It says it is weatherproof but I have my doubts as there are no sealed connections, albeit there is a plastic shroud at the bottom, but it has holes for the wires in it. I actually have a Ziplock over the top of mine and although not sealed, water cannot get in at all....it isn't seen so doesn't matter what it looks like, but I don't trust water staying out..... The other thing is to remember that if you don't get a signal on the particular network of the SIM you have - it isn't going to work.... I scoped out the area that I have mine using different phones on different networks to get the best signal SIM card. One of the standout features for me is the variable voltage input. That makes it far easier to run in the field compared with other routers I’ve tried. I power it directly from a car battery jump pack output, and because the router needs to sit further out for best reception, I added a 10-metre CCTV power extension lead to bridge the distance (same connector size). It works flawlessly, no voltage drop problems and no interruptions. That flexibility makes it ideal for off-grid setups. In everyday use it’s been rock solid. It stays connected for as long as i have it powered, and it’s compact enough to mount on a pole or wall without fuss. Between the rugged build, the simple power options, and the reliable signal, it does exactly what I wanted: gives me internet access in a remote field. Overall, I’m very pleased with it. A neat, practical solution that just works once you’ve got it in place. I was going to knock a star off for the weatherproof issue but I am stoked by the reliability of the unit... and the cost of a known weatherproof router like this is out of my budget range.

Complete garbage
Worked ok for about a week. Then started dropping wifi and needing resets. After 2 weeks it just died completely. Trying to return for a refund but with no printer i need to walk over a mile to a drop off point that can print the label. Combination of a poorly made poor quality product with no customer support from the seller or amazon now. Avoid like the plague. Was used indoors in a cool dry area with both a wireless and ethernet connection in the end. Useless.

Superb performance and incredible value
I bought this 4G router as an experiment. I need to use 4G broadband in my rural location as BT won't provide anything above 500k without me lining their pockets with several thousand pounds, so mobile broadband seemed to be the way to go. I have been running a Three sim card and Huawei router with external antenna for 2 years, with typically 4 to 5mb download and 1 to 2mb up. This was an 8 fold increase on my BT telephone line for about the same price! However as I investigated it, it was looking like an external modem - such as this one - might gain me some bandwidth as the distance from the existing external antenna to the router meant I was losing almost all the 'gain' from the aerial in the length of co-ax. So - I decided for a little over £50 it was worth a try with this external modem. I was concerned about how waterproof this router would be - I live in an exposed part of Yorkshire and the router would be sure to take a 'hammering' if I mounted it up on my satellite mast. I asked the question of the seller who assured me it was IP65 rated, so it should be sufficient for the exposure up on my roof. When the unit arrived, I was impressed to see that the external antenna were supplied with o rings to seal where they are mounted with the case and that caps were provided for the optional slots to the removable casing where the LAN cable plugs in - in other words, yes it appears to meat the IP rating of 65 and I think would survive in the great british outdoors. Setting up the router was relatively simple and was effectively plug and play. A little bit of tweaking to disable some of the defaults via an IP address login was a sensible precaution before leaving the network open to the world. The user interface is a little primitive and doesn't have the GUI of say a Huawei router - but everything is there if you want to alter the router settings. Performance wise - this router matched my Huawei + external antenna performance when indoors (this includes through my 3 ft thick walls - so I think very impressive. Outside it just excels in performance and has effectively doubled my internet speed - which is why I can happily logon to Amazon and write this review. What the routers endurance outside and reliability will be like, I don't know for certain as I'm operating it indoors at the moment - it's been a little too windy and wet to be installing aloft at the moment! In summation - this external modem router was an absolute delight and one of those (rare) occassions where I bought something without a lot of hope of success, only to be blown away by it's performance and value - 5 stars - cos I can't give 6 :)

Good for very specific needs, but not for me.
This device has very innovative look and design. It can lie flat, can stand vertically (stand provided in the package), can be attached to the wall or to the pole. It can be used indoor, but manufacturer promise it can also work outdoor. Apart of the LTE router itself, box contains detachable antennas with seals, stand, rather short Ethernet cable, POE power supply, and colour printed manual. As promised by manufacturer - device don't need configuration to start working. Just insert SIM card, turn it on, and you can connect to WiFi and start using it. Device has also one WAN/LAN connector which can be used as backup WAN source, or as LAN - to connect devices without WiFi connectivity. Device can be powered with supplied POE brick, or with typical 12V 1.5A power adaptor with barrel plug. If POE brick is used, Ethernet signal is available on power brick, not on the device. All that is very nice up to now, but there are also some concerns - mainly about performance and available settings. LTE with full signal strength can achieve just 49Mbit download, while my old router in this place can do 98Mbit, so it's not even close do declared "up to 150Mbit". Didn't test the performance of WiFi, but signal was strong and stable - no connectivity issues Talking about Web Interface - LTE section is rich in options - it has everything what is needed. In WiFi section also seams to be plenty of options, however I was not that much interested with Wifi, as I've ordered it for its LTE features. Unfortunately for me, the device has no modem mode, so I was unable to attach external IP (LTE) to WAN port of my main router. Apart from that, I was unable to use SpeedTest by Ookla - page loads up, but can't connect to any server. It looks like blocked for purpose - when I connect my old router speed test works. Because of problems with Ookla, I had to use fast.com - which measured every time no more than to 49Mbit. I don't mind speedtest.net, but if this device blocks something which is not listed anywhere in the settings - how do we know it won't block something really important? It doesn't look right. Apart from that device looks like not very well supported, so I wouldn't hope for further improvements . Device is on the market for some time already, but no any firmware update available to download on manufacturer's website - just manual and leaflet. Device is advertised as outdoor internet supply for use by cameras etc. I think for that perfect it may be really good, but as home router - maybe for people with very limited needs, or as as backup.

Simple, cheap and very effective
I bought this to provide a WiFi connection to 2 CCTV cameras at my stable yard, so I wanted to power it from a 12v power supply and to connect to a 4G network where there is no fixed internet. Very quick & easy to set up, insert the SIM card and it connects, no configuration. Once set up, has not caused me any need to worry about it. It provides a handy stats page showing network usage for the current month, which is useful for a metered 4G connection. I've been using it now for 6 months and it has not gone wrong at all, provided decent coverage and tolerated being in a dusty and cold environment (horse yard)

IP65 Weather Rating is Questionable
Not fully tested the device yet however setup was very easy indeed - installed my 3 SIM from my phone, powered the unit on and it just worked with zero involvement :) I do question the IP65 rating however - the two antennas were supplied with rubber washers but just tightening the antennas to the unit resulted in the washer just expanding outwards and therefore offering no water protection at all. Whether the rest of the unit protects in rainy weather remains to be seen. Not needed 'Tech Support' so not able to comment.

Exceeded Expectations
So I purchased this after lots of deliberation on what would meet my two problems needing a solution. I wanted a sim deal router to take to our caravan and get wifi for the kids to use and for tv streaming. If I was signing up for a sim data deal then I wanted something to also get wifi for in the car for the kids while traveling down the 3 hours drive. So I was looking at two devices to buy. I took the plunge and purchased this and also thought about buying a little wireless sim wifi router for the car. But I wasn’t sure if this would be good and/or that the sim deal would be good. So opted to buy this router first and see… The router arrived as you can see in the box. The two antennas on the side are fixed and the top wifi and 4G ones are screw in. The base has a removable stand, and a cover which you can plug the holes to make waterproof and run cables out the bottom. (Whilst it is waterproof to a degree I do think it could be better) I will probably add a little something in the bottom to further ensure water doesn’t get in. But I wouldn’t say it’s enough to put you off buying. I’m talking a little cable sized hole that I might put a blob of silicone in. To make this simple… the power socket has two network cable ports. One to power the router and another to hard wire a tv in via the Ethernet if you wish. The Ethernet cable supplied isn’t very long so consider possibly getting a longer one. But this power option is perfect and can give you max benefit from being hard wired to say a tv and avoiding wifi. So here is what surprised me… you can also power this from the micro USB port! So the photo attached to the review is the router in my car plugged into the USB port. So this router not only can be put on my caravan roof tv ariel or even sat at a window depending on signal but I can use it in the car! My son was on his switch playing online and my daughter was on her iPad watching YouTube. I even used a battery travel power bank to power it in the garden and get wifi. I got the handy pay and go sim. £20 a month unlimited no contract. So I can pay £20 as and when I need it for that month. Download speeds from sitting testing in my livingroom was 27mb down and 4mb up. They say about 14mb download is what you need to stream 4k videos. So this was more than enough and at the time I was only half signal. So if you see this on the deal(frustrating as I bought this a few days prior and paid £10ish more) I would definitely recommend and buy again. For info… I had to install the sim and power the router off and on to get it to accept it. In the interface you can read text messages and accept messages. The handy sim you active online and once you get an email to say activation is complete it works. The user interface is simple but then you don’t really need much. I mean I changed the ssid and password. That’s about all I played about with. I will update the review with the outcome next week when I test it at the caravan. But I have no doubts it will work and be a perfect solution.
