Want a regular scope on SKS - get shell deflector
Product arrived quickly and in perfect condition. The see-thru scope mount receiver cover I bought was not actually intended to have the shell deflector even thought both are UTG. I bought the see-thru scope mount part not knowing this and solely based on the customer reviews. Other scope mount receiver covers had picatinny rails and are intended for the shell deflector, but have poor customer ratings due to difficulty with installation. My receiver cover installed in about 5 seconds. I simply made a mold and glued it to the reciever cover. I then filled the mold with JB Weld and imbedded some bolts/studs. Once dry the shell deflector went right on and now I use washers and nuts to bolt it on. I would argue that my shell deflector mounts lower than if I had bought the receiver cover with picatinny rails; allowing me to install a larger objective scope. Most people reported only being able to intall a 32mm objective scope. I have a 3-9X40 on mine. I you find a shorter "tactical" or "compact" type scope that you like, then you may not need the shell deflector. I went through a few and didn't like any of them so I went with a 3-9X40 that I already had as a spare. Good luck. The shell deflector is really well made and looks cool to me.

Buyer Beware! Purcahse at your own risk.
I was excited to get this in the mail but when I went to put it on my Russian SKS with tactical BSA scope ($98) and rail it would not fit. So then I went to put in on my other SKS with Centerpoint scope ($129) and rail it still would not fit. These are top quality scope and rail systems so it's a bit silly it would not fit. There is a lip on the area above the screw holds that needed to be completely grinded off. Honestly the screw holes need to be more spread out to make your scope more sturdy. The deflector portion is too long and went over my iron sights. I worked for a metal fabricator so I have the skill and tools to modify this scope. After about 4 times at the grinder and a total of about 3 hours of fitting/removing/grinding I finally was able to get the piece to fit. But it still would not allow for my scope to sit on the gun. So I tried to bend the deflector just 5 degrees and snap. It broke.. someone said this was good steel? its CHEAP POT METAL ? Sounds like the manufacture put on that review.I would not recommend this to anyone. Its only 8 bucks for a reason its garbage a waste of time and money. I'm looking for a better quality deflector. Spend the extra 10 bucks and get a better quality deflector from a gun shop.

should be good
I have not tested this yet at the range but it fit nice and description was accurate for me. It went on in a minute and looks good. It is a little flimsy from side to side a little. I'm wondering if it will cause vibrations or a sound while firing the rifle. but as far as bending up or down, it is solid. I will update this after I get a chance to test it at the range. Should be a very good product.

Works fine for waht it is.....looks neat!
I added this to my SKS to keep the shells being ejected under control. I also liked it because it looks cool!Simple install....it's just a piece of metal. YOU MUST have a rail that you can mount it to or you cannot use it (as far as i know). I purchased a riser tri-rail from UTG that specifically said it was designed for this deflector...don't buy another rail and think it will fit. I got the rail for a scope so i got this as well.ALSO if you plan on mounted a larger scope, you will need this most likely because the shells will eject right up into your scope and could damage it.

nice accessory
Haven't had a chance to fire the gun yet w/ this accessory attached but it looks nice & fits right w/ the UTG receiver cover (which I had to source from Fleet Farm because no one else had 'em).I thought you needed an aftermarket receiver cover w/ the little stabilizing screws @ the bottom, but it turns out that all you need is a receiver cover w/ a side rail because it mounts up underneath that cover.Looks sharp, should do the trick nicely.

This works great if your tired of looking all over for your brass when you finish shooting.
Anyone who has ever shot an SKS and then went looking for the empty brass knows, they get thrown EVERYWHERE! This keeps them in a relatively consistent area. You have to replace your rear housing with one that has screws/bolt to mount this on. But if you do, you will like the change on ejection.I would give it 5 star, but it is pretty flimsy metal and it's made in China. Otherwise, it does what it says and I recommend it.

I'll have to modify it
I bought this for use with my NCStar receiver cover. There's a lip on it where it mounts as if it's supposed to fit under the rail mount [I switch outed the rail for UTG's high scope mount to get back my iron sights; the NCStar cover seems to be a truer round at the back]. No way that will fit. I searched for a NCStar version without luck, thinking it might fit better; all units seem to have the same design. Will need to remove some or all of the lip. I'll revisit the review once I've made my mod to review the result after a visit to the range.

SKS and the deflector
Ok so what is this thing. Let me tell you. I knew there would be work involved to put it on. I had to modify it to match my mount. I did not have the UTG mount. I placed it on the Barsky sks scope mount I bought from amazon. I will let you know that when it is done right it will work. I would not say this is a simple product to use with the barsky. However if you have some skills it is a very effective product. I enjoyed the challange of installing it to my weapon. Worth the cash.

The receiver covers are great, but the shell deflectors had to be modified ...
Bought two of these for my SKS's with the NCStar receiver covers that I have. The receiver covers are great, but the shell deflectors had to be modified to fit them as they did not quite match up in the hole placement. If you do not have the tools or the experience to mount (modify) them they are wastes of money. I have yet to trial them at the ranget... So the verdict on them is not quite in yet.

Cheap mod
I grabbed it cause it’s cheap and it almost fits to the modified dust cover I have It just needs a minor modification and it will work great for wat I want. Scratches and bend marks who cares I’m gonna be bouncing 1000s of shell casings of it.

This one should be sent with its proper case cover.
The item is exactly as ordered. But it is only made for certain SKS covers. Does not fit the on I ordered.

Sks shell deflector don’t work in this
Needs filing to fit. Couple file strikes too many it becomes too lose. I used an angle grinder to take off bulk material. It does take some effort. Even though when this item is selected it says below to buy this item +shell deflector + buttstock recoil pad. But shell deflector r doesn’t work with this item bit misleading.
