Excellent creation!
What an excellent product, a must-have in your backpack. I’ve used it a couple times when on a long hike, I just have it thrown in the bottom of my backpack and it’s withstood the abuse (durable), it filters super quickly and is a nice size! True necessity!

Simple and Quick - Works Fine
Works as seen on TV, lol. Just be aware to keep the top away from the unfiltered water source, fill the bottle, top on, drink. Once empty it can be balled up and fits well in my backpack waistbelt pocket.

Brilliant.
Katadyn BeFree 0.6L Water Filter, Fast Flow, 0.1 Micron EZ Clean Membrane... (8019639): Literally a life saver. Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink. Sound familiar? If you've ever run out of water on the trail for whatever reason, you know it can turn to a very difficult if not deadly situation very quickly. With this magnificent bottle, you can get your water on the go and feel good about it. I first used it in Brazil. Very hot day and there in town was a pipe with water coming out of it. I had no idea where it came from or anything else about it. I filled up my Katadyn bottle and drank it. It was very refreshing and with no consequences. That was years ago and just last week I went through 5 refills hiking through Shenandoah National Park. Just be careful to keep the output clean!

Best lightweight water filter for backpacking.
As a field biologist and avid outdoorsman I have used my fair share of water filters. The Katadyn BeFree has been my favorite and is my go to for most adventures. The squeeze bag is so easy and fast to use and is very durable. The filters are a breeze to change, reasonably priced, and last a decent while. I do like the 1 L over the 0.6 L bag as it's really not much heavier and you get more filtering capacity with each use.

Very useful once we replaced the cap
I used the Katafyn BeFree for 3 weeks in Guatemala. I really like that I can use it to put drinkable water into other bottles. It works easily and my grandchildren were able to drink from it easily. The cap however broke the first day. It has a strip you have to remove before you use it like a disposable water bottle. (It was hard for me to open.) My grandson dropped it (he's one so it didn't fall far) and the cap broke. Fortunately, my daughter found a brand of disposable water bottles that had a cap that fit that was sturdier so we were still able to use the bottle.

One Bad apple doesn't spoil the tree.
Ditch your Sawyer and Be Free!. The large opening makes filling a breeze and MUCH better than filling a sawyer squeeze pouch or a smart water bottle. I only needed a scoop on the very shallowest of water sources. I tested this over a couple week section hike on the AT. I had a Sawyer squeeze set up for gravity feed with a CNOC bladder (My old go-to) and this Katadyn BeFree that I was deciding on. Since I was starting at Amicalola, I knew I would be at Mountain Crossing in a few days, so I left the Sawyer at home and just brought the BeFree. I figured I could replace it at Neil's Gap if it sucked. It does not suck. I could gather from 99% of water sources without scooping, and filter directly into my smart water bottles from the BeFree. The flow rate is incredible. I would be done filtering 2 liters and cameling up on the 3rd before folks with Sawyers were done filtering their first liter. The flow rate is high enough to drink directly from the BeFree if that's your style. I have tried this previously with the Sawyer filters and found it to be a less than satisfactory process. The mini has too little flow and, even when used in-line with a bladder, the flow rate is terrible and will leave you sy=ucking hard on your bite valve to just get something to drink. The Squeeze is also difficult to drink directly from for a couple reasons: You have to squeeze the bottle hard to get water into your mouth and the bottle crushes, leaving low pressure in the bottle forcing you to break the seal to allow the pressure to rebalance.

Great Filter
I estimate I've filtered 250+ liters of water so far with this filter and not had a single issue. Going from a pump filter to this is so nice. It's less weight and less pieces you have to pack. What I really like is any product from HydraPak with a 42mm mouth will work with this filter. That includes things like the 750ml HydraPak Stash, Hydrapak Stash - Collapsible BPA & PVC Free Water Bottle (750ml/25oz) - Malibu Blue . Also the 2L, 3L, and 4L Seeker water storage bags, Hydrapak Seeker - Collapsible BPA & PVC Free Water Storage Bag (3L/100oz) - Malibu Blue . With a few additional parts, like the adapters from Sawyer, Sawyer Products Fast Fill Adapters for Hydration Packs , you can have a nice gravity setup for camp. All in all great filter. Very simple, versatile, and easy to use.

It saved me.
I drank the filtered water and use the filtered water to brush my teeth. It smells a little bit but it gets better later on. I am treveling around Peru. I had severe watery diarrhea even though I ate cooked food and drank only bottled water. I heard some people fill used water bottles with tap water and sell it. Once, the bottle was a little bit suspicious in a restaurant but I drank it. The next day, severe watery diarrhea started. This filter saved me. It can be easily squeezed and the water flow is good. Easy to use. I don't keep water in there as other reviewer recommended.
