What does yellow weak light/home button do? When I press mine it does nothing. Not sure if that part of circuit board is nonfunctional or just user er

If you long-press this button for 3 seconds, the machine will home automatically to the down left corner. If you short-press it for 1 second, you can turn on the laser module with weak light. It is commonly used for simple testing.

Can this machine cut through a 1/8 inch thick fluorescent acrylic plexiglass sheet? For example, could I cut out a shape?

I never tried it but it probably can. It cuts through 1/8” plywood. You’d need to experiment with speed and power settings to cut and not melt. Also beware of fumes.

Would this be good to cut basswood to make earrings?

Yep! I make and sell earrings and use this machine. I use 1/16 inch basswood and they turn out great. I can make earrings as small as 1/4 of an inch and I have also done tree of life earrings with very delicate cuts and it works awesome. This machine is a beast, it can fo pretty much whatever you want. I LOVE IT!!
