Excellent value for the money. Great for VCV Rack
Plug play right out of the box. I do recommend updating the firmware however. I can't rate support because I have not needed them.I tested on Windows and Linux, ,no issues at all with drivers or other connectivity problems. For my application it works great. I am able to map the sliders and nobs and buttons to VCV Rack with no issue. The unit is plastic but with a metal feel. It is very solid, does not feel cheap. Small foot print saves space but its not so small that its difficult to deal with. Everything has a good feel the action is smooth with slight resistance, Just enough to feel comfortable.I really don't think you can beat this for the price. I just wish someone would make a unit specific to VCV.

Great controller that replaced my Akai APC Mini
I originally bought an Akai Midimix, but ended up returning it for the Launch Control XL. I have been very happy with the decision. While the Launch Control costs more, it feels like a better quality piece of gear. I read a lot of reviews that said this, and they were right. The knobs and faders on the Akai feel cheap in comparison. The biggest advantage the Launch Control has over the Midimix is that it is very customizable. You can even save presets on the Novation.I use the Launch Control XL with a Launchpad X, and the two devices together are amazingly capable. There are very few features I would want that are not available when using these two devices together. The Novation costs about $50 more than the Akai, but I feel like the price difference is well worth it!

Another great piece of Novation gear
The LaunchControl XL integrates perfectly with my existing workflow, which consists of A Launchkey, a Launchpad X, and a Launchpad MKIII, using Ableton Live.It allows the user to have tactile, physical control of ANY parameter that can be mapped to it, and even offers custom User Profiles, for creating your own control maps. The LCXL also works with Novation Components and this makes it easy to work with, along with my other Novation gear, when working in Components.10/10 - would buy again

you really should consider this, it’s actually pretty useful!
I needed a fader controller for Logic Pro X. even if you use another DAW, listen up.After looking around and seeing that there were a number of options that do all sorts of things beyond being a fader controller, and looking at dedicated fader controllers that had USB midi capability; i gave the LCXL a good hard look and took the plunge. I can safely say that this will handle the fader and knob operations of my software DAW, as well as many plugins. if you are a Ableton user your set right out of the box. when i get past the learning curve of Logic’s naming convention, and i get the Logic manual pages for what the parameters are named; i will be able to use all the buttons, but out of the box i was able to use the faders and the pan pots no once i did my basic setup in Logic while the faders and the pots leave a bit to be desired, i would still say that for the $$$ i would recommend this to Logic Pro X users, and if you’re a nube and dont even have software to use ( mac, or pc ) this will give you a “lite” version of ableton to record with; do it, ableton is good software also. anyway, this gets a 4.5 in my book. 5’s are for incomparable. hope this helps. i answer questions too.

Great for Reaper
I play and record music as a hobby. I consider my skill level as novice getting ready to graduate to average. The point is this... Even though this controller is advertised as "Ableton ready" it was very easy to map controls to Reaper. It is built solid, doesn't feel like a hollow plastic box. I highly recommend this controller to the hobby multi track recorder for great results at a reasonable price.

But how are the knobs? They're excellent!
I'm an amateur enthusiast and beginner, working in Ableton. I’ve had this for about a month now and I’m very happy with it!Let’s get to the main thing I wanted to know: are the knobs and sliders any good? They are surprisingly good! They have a nice smooth resistance. The entire unit feels very sturdy. I’m not a pro, but I know many pro DJs and performers, and I’m the son of a professional musician. I would confidently tell any of them that this product is durable and worthy of use at a gig.In general this product exceeded my expectations of quality. Set up for Ableton is actual, factual, PnP, right out of the box.
