Gaddafi's "The Green Book"

A solid book on understanding the mindset and political ideology of former Libyan leader Gaddafi. It was definitely understandable, however there were several typos, and it was obviously a translated text. Interestingly, Gaddafi himself did not implement his own ideas and just became another corrupt dictator. This book shows that he was once an idealist who was generally trying to make the world a better place. It is definitely highly subjective, as it places a large emphasis on tradition and religion to govern society. The ideas definitely would not be accepted in a liberal Western democratic society. The book also advocates the idea of direct rule by the people through committees.

THIS IS A CONCISE BOOK WRITTEN BY THE FORMER LIBYAN LEADER MUAMMAR GADDAFI IN WHICH HE ESPOUSED HIS IDEOLOGY A MIXTURE OF PAN ARABISM AND SOCIALISM, A THIRD WAY DIFFERENT FROM BOTH COMMUNISM AND LIBERAL CAPITALISM, A BIT OF ECCENTRIC. I PERSONALLY DO NOT LIKE ANY FORM OF SOCIALISM, HOWEVER FOR ALL HIS FAULTS GADDAFI DID GOOD THINKS FOR HIS COUNTRY AND HIS PEOPLE, HE ELEVATED THEIR STANDARD OF LIVING AND BESIDES HE MAINTAINED THE STABILITY AND UNITY OF THE NATION, MOROEVER HE WAS A BULWARK AGAINST RADICAL ISLAM, IN FACT HE MADE THE PEACE WITH THE WEST, NEVERTHELESS THE BAD OMEN WAS STALKING, IT STARTED WITH THE NEOLIBERAL THERAPY SHOCK BY THE INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND, FOLLOWING BY THE INFAMOUS INTERVENTION BY THE NATO HEADED BY THE US IN 2011, THE COUNTRY WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND OBLITERATED ;CITIES RAZED TO THE GROUND, TRIBAL WARS , ISLAMIC RADICALISM AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING; ONE OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS AWFUL INTERVENTION HAS BEEN THE UNCONTROLLED INMIGRATION TO EUROPE THAT HAS CREATED ANOMIC COMMUNITIES THAT HAVE DISFIGURED THE EUROPEAN CITIES, AS OF TODAY THE COUNTRY HAS NOT YET RECOVERED , THIS IS THE KIND OF "DEMOCRACY" THAT THE LIBERAL WEST HAVE BROUGHT WHEREVER THEY INTERVENE.

Gaddafi's ideas are utopian, appear to come more from Bedouin culture than from Islam, and strongly rejecting both communism and western politics and culture. He believes in a socialism driving by common people and not government organized or enforced. Though a Muslim, he does not promote Islam, except in a statement that a nation should have a single religion. He promotes natural culture, and Islam claims to be the natural religion. Many ideals are proclaimed, including rights of minorities, natural rights of women and children, including the need for children to be with their mothers. That contrasts with the Islamic standard that Fathers have total right and control. He assumes that in time people will choose this utopia, and so makes no proposal for enforcing it. There is no impetus for putting this utopia into place by force, but lacks a clear statement condemning force. I chose this book because I am trying, as a Christian and political conservative, to understand Muslim Thinking. This book is an example of Muslim thinking, but far from and much in contrast to much of Mid-East ideology. It seems great foolishness for Western nations to deal with Mid-East threats while making little effort to understand how leaders and people in these nations think about life and social and political issues. The result is bad actions that backfire and increase the problems. Great leaders in Islam who had the good of the people in mind rather than ideologies of self-promotion and stolen riches include Ataturk, Mossadech, Sadat, and Gaddafi. The later three were killed for their goodness. Gaddafi had his bad years, but had been turning Westward. He discarded Libya's nuclear program. The Green Book shows thinking that could only be repulsive to Islamists. The resulted in a rebel movement in Libya, which was foolishly supported by the American government. To support a rebel movement in Muslim countries can only result in prolonging the conflict and causing great suffering and killing. Even the worst of dictators serve the country better by quickly putting down rebellions rather than making the country into a Syria. So, the U.S. killed Gaddafi, killed the best peace movement in Africa and the Mid-East, promoting the "Arabic Spring" and conflict and destruction that can only ultimately benefit the Muslim Brotherhood, as they take advantage of the chaos. Is the Obama administration the best friend the Muslim Brotherhood ever had? Deliberately or foolishly? They killed Gaddafi. Possibly the worst crime of the century.

Great book, I like mis of the ideas presented in the book, thou they may seem impossible to put into practice in our actual society. With this book we can see the heart of Gaddafi.

It would have you believe this is a textured and decently bound book. However the texture is printed on and it's a very average bound book. Great text. Glad it's being sold here. Crumby that the cover makes it look better than it is.

Essential reading for any politically minded person -- especially revolutionaries or other types who suspect something is not quite right with the current state of the States. Very easy to read. Every chapter is essentially a 1-5 page essay that rings of common sense.

Interesting read though the language is pretty basic. Some "philosophies" are a bit childish although it's probably correct to assume this is due to the fact the book was addressed to Lybian people, with different levels of education. Extremely easy read and a very concise explanation on his views on society. Most aspects are very much oriented to a "western civilization" view of society, that he seemed to share, taking in account the particularities of his people and its cultural heritage. No "nonsense", extremist or fundamentalist views, besides a socialist view of society adapted to the region.

This book outlines Gaddafi's ideology and effectively critiques the modern idea of democracy, wage labour, as well as touching on social issues (women, families and sports etc.) He uses simple yet strong examples to push his point across, in all honesty it's a fascinating book to follow, it conveys many powerful positions that Gaddafi held. Would highly recommend!

The book was delivered on date and time, the book was in good condition. Mr. Gaddaffi is an enlightened, real leader who lived for his people and served them in all honesty and sincerity the way every genuine citizen would hope for. This book written by Mr. Gaddaffi himself gives a very clear, concise view on a healthy political, social and economic system that would benefit one and all in a truly egalitarian manner. Most importantly Mr. Gaddaffi is unlike the majority empty sweet talkers, he walked the talk. Rare are such great, enlightened leaders in any sphere of life, hence, it is essential for wannabe real leaders to grasp this great man's brain.

I had only heard about Libya and Gaddhafi from Libyans that escaped before the invasion of Mossad sponsored ISIS terrorists and then the American target bombing of schools, hospitals and important economic centers. So, my view wasn't warped by the Jewish controlled media of the West. This book is fantastic! It's a quick read but actually it is so deep and revelatory that I've had to reread it over and over and over again. The concepts of statecraft are so refreshing and sublime that I could only accept that he was murdered for his genius. Long live the memory of this wonderful man and to hell with the Zionist shadow government which is currently dominating the once glorious Western world!
