Product description The VOLOOM Hair Volumizing Irons represent a new category of styling tools designed specifically to add fabulous volume to almost type or length of hair. The secret is in the patented plates. Used in the under-layers of hair, VOLOOM creates hidden volumizing structure – natural-looking “volume pockets” – that lift the top layers of your hair up and away from your scalp. By separating and lifting individual hairs, VOLOOM creates the appearance of much greater hair volume. Unlike crimpers, VOLOOM plates have been scientifically engineered to create volume and structure without leaving a clear pattern in the hair. Crimpers can create texture, but there is an undesirable crimp pattern left in the hair. This is because crimpers bend hair at extremely sharp angles (which can be unhealthy for hair) and have a very regular “saw-tooth” pattern in the plates. VOLOOM plates, on the other hand, feature alternating platforms with beveled edges that bend the hair much more gently, creating natural-looking “volume pockets” in the hair. Also, crimpers do not create nearly as much “lift” in the under-layers of the hair, so the volume created with crimpers is much less apparent than with the VOLOOM Hair Volumizing Iron. You simply style your hair as you like, then as a finishing step, on dry hair, use VOLOOM to add volume to the under-layers of the hair closest to the scalp. This gives the hair full, healthy, sexy volume. Here’s the best part : You’ll get the full hair volume you crave without mousses, gels or sprays that can weigh your hair down and leave it looking flat, dull and lifeless. And with VOLOOM, your new hair volume is locked into your hair, so it lasts for days or until you shampoo. Voloom Classic Hair Iron It’s so easy and takes only minutes. First, make sure your hair is dry and styled as you like. (VOLOOM can be used on hair that is freshly styled or on 2nd or 3rd day hair). Part your hair normally. Then, using the brush provided, section off a top layer of hair and clip it to the side using the clips included. This top layer of hair should be about ½ to 1 inch wide and run parallel to your regular part. This layer will stay smooth and untreated. Voloom Petite Hair Iron You will also want to make sure that a small section of hair – about ½ to 1 inch wide -- running alongside your face stays smooth and untreated. Separate out another layer – about ½ to 1 inch wide -- underneath the top layer that is held by the clip. Clamp and release VOLOOM quickly on the hair near the scalp, being careful not to burn the scalp. Voloom Rootie Hair Iron The first time you clamp and release VOLOOM, make sure that you do not hold the iron on the hair longer than a second (about long enough to say “VOLOOM”). Repeat this process as you move VOLOOM down the hair shaft, two to three times, stopping at about eye or cheekbone level. You can experiment with more or less, depending on the length of your hair. Clip this layer out of the way to keep it separate from the hair underneath so that you can treat more layers of hair. Repeat this process on as many layers as desired until you reach the volume you like. With VOLOOM, you choose the level of volume you want, from “just a little boost” to movie star glamour. Review: Where has this been all my life? - This product is truly life-changing. I wish it had been invented back in the 80s, when some of us had to work so hard to achieve big hair. I spent hours, I kid you not, washing, blow drying upside-down, then scrunching and pinning my hair up and leaving it that way until seconds before I walked out the door, only to have it flatten out after an hour or two. Hairspray would only make it last a little bit longer, but that of course had its own drawbacks. With the Voloom, I would have been able to achieve Rock-n-Roll hair in five minutes flat! Too bad all that big hair is no longer in style (haha), but some of us definitely still need help getting a little volume. This product has been so easy to use and has given me such wonderful results that really last until I wash my hair again. I don't have too much time and patience anymore, but the Voloom heats up quickly and it doesn't take a long time to do. It literally takes me about five minutes to create great volume with this thing. My hair is baby fine and I don't have a lot of it, but the Voloom makes my hair look full and fluffy. It even makes ponytails and up-dos look better, because the hair isn't stuck flat against my scalp. Some reviewers are saying that they get a very defined waffle iron looking marks when they use this. I think that means either the temperature is too high or they are clamping the hair down for too long. I watched several tutorials on youtube and some of these girls clamp the hair down for way too long. The instructions say that it's just a second, then release. I started out with the temperature at the lowest setting and slowly increased, but I found that I get amazing volume with the temperature at just 230 degrees, so that's what I use to avoid heat damage. Maybe it's because my hair is so fine, but that's all I need. (aren't we all using this because our hair is too fine/thin?) I clamp the Voloom down on my hair for a second, then release and move to the next spot. This way, the treated hair looks kind of like it was teased, not crimped or waffle-iron textured. Then the treated hair gets covered with the top layer of hair, so you can't see it. If you follow the instructions, there's no reason why there should be any visible marks. It took me a few tries to get the hang of it, but now I love it and believe that it is worth every penny! Review: Just arrived—where have you been all my life?! Love it!! - Just arrived—where have you been all my life?! Love it!! I pulled mine out of the box and plugged it in to give it a first try today when it arrived in the mail. It heats up very fast. When they say to hold this device in your hair for one second at a time they really mean it! I lifted the top of my hair and sectioned it so it would lie on top of my treated hair. That was super easy with the clips that are provided. It took less than five minutes to do my hair. Then I unclipped the smooth parts. I was amazed at just how well my hair responded. I have a fullness I never knew I could experience. I have a fine hair that is about 2 inches below shoulder length. I love everything about this product and can’t wait to use it again and again. It is a little pricey but considering my hair now has volume instead of lying flat against my head I am one happy customer. Edit— I woke up the next day and my hair still had volume and looked great.

Where has this been all my life?
This product is truly life-changing. I wish it had been invented back in the 80s, when some of us had to work so hard to achieve big hair. Great for fine, straight hair
I was a little reluctant to try this because of the cost, but Amazon's easy return policy made me decide to check it out. So glad I did! I have fine, straight hair. Within an hour after blow-drying, it's usually limp. Rollers sometimes work, but they're a pain to use. The Voloom works as promised -- it's quick, easy to use, and the volume holds even overnight. I had a few questions about technique that I asked on the company's Facebook page and received prompt, complete answers. It took a couple of days of experimenting to get the temperature right and to get efficient at placing the clips to keep the top section and the treated sections out of the way, but now it takes me less than five minutes and my hair looks great.

Works great! Quick fix! natural! but expensive, and really benefits from volume product
I really do love this thing, don't get me wrong. It doesn't seem to do much damage to your hair at all. For hair as fine and thin as mine, though, you very well might have to wash your hair the next day, even though many people don't have to. I don't care what anyone says, I'm not a fan of dry shampoo. The ends of my hair look a little fried even though I don't dye my hair or style it very much, so I do have to use heat protect, which I think hurts the actual volume when you get down to it (but many people are better at keeping it towards the ends than I am). It also does take a little practice (not a ton), just watch the many youtube videos out there for help. But, when your hair is super fine/ thin, the layer you have to leave to cover the crimped parts makes your head look a little square. You gotta play around with this. I test an inch, brush it over, and go closer to the part if I can. I also put in ion volume spray before I blow dried a little for extra oomph. I think that without it, this product isn't as amazing as everyone says, but it does make quite a difference. I absolutely love how voluminous this makes my hair, it just takes a bit of trial and error. Another thing is that putting the heat up a bit really does make a difference, so test up from 300 degrees. Going back in real quick a few hours after you initially do you hair helps a ton, but it's not needed. I would say that If you're going for a sleek look, flat iron AND THEN Voloom, and touch up with the flat iron after. But, if you're going to curl, Voloom first, then curl. This product heats up incredibly fast, but does NOT cool down quickly. You can't close it while it's hot, so be weary if you have kids or have a messy bathroom. The little heat resistant bag is nice, but if you pack it away hot, you might make the iron last less than it could. I am weary about the price, since some people say this iron doesn't tend to last long. If you're on a budget, try a mini crimper and just spend more time on your hair, and use products (carefully). My hair is personally too thin to hide the lines, though I've tried. I also tend to be in a mass panic while getting ready and don't have the time. If you're treating yourself (or gifting a beautiful woman who just needs some volume), this is an incredible tool, its a VERY quick addition to your routine, and it boosts self-esteem.

LIFE CHANGING!!!!
Life changing!! I love this because it does add great volume for us fine-haired gals, it's super compact and easy to travel with, and you can't see the "crimp" marks like you can with a regular crimper!! I am obsessed!! I do think it's over priced, but for fabulous volume that I literally can't get any other way?? Money well spent!! I have blonde fine hair, I usually put the iron at 330 degrees (which is recommended 320-340 in the instruction booklet). It saves your heat setting, and automatically heats to that everytime you turn it on! The iron is a really cute pearly pink color too!! Love that!! This is my go to!! It makes my unwashed, dirty, days old hair look full and fab!! The petitt Voloom is specifically for fine hair, so glad I splurged on this!!! I would buy this again! Gals, you need this!!!!

voloom is a keeper
I've got pancake hair. Flat. No matter what I've tried the little volume I can create with multiple products DOES NOT LAST. Therefore, I was skeptical about performance and seriously fixated on the price. I'd already paid out hundreds of dollars for dryers, curlers, irons, gels, mousse, sprays, waxes, pomades, fixatives......you get the picture. I decided to throw caution to the wind and order the Petite Voloom for my short/medium hair. Hot News FLASH!..... I CAN NOT BELIEVE how easily the Voloom solved my pancake problem. I am thrilled and have just had to tell everybody I know what a problem-solver my Voloom has turned out to be. I actually never expected the volume to last through the next day and the next! but what a great surprise. It not only creates a preposterous amount of volume that lasts for days, but it also becomes unnecessary to shampoo every day. I may be a clean freak and shampoo daily but since my pancake hair is not laying on top of my head I do not have to wash, dry and style my hair every single day.. It's the best gift I gave myself in ages.

Wow!
This thing really works. It's also very well made and comes with everything you need to use it. Some features: There is a digital temperature screen that allows you to adjust in 5 degree increments. It heats up fast, in well under a minute. It has switch to lock the plates closed for storage. The cord swivels 360 degrees and has an attached Velcro strap to wrap it up. It comes with a bag that has an insulated storage pocket and and a flap that, when opened, creates an insulated mat to set the iron on while you are using it. There is an attached elastic Velcro strap that wraps the whole thing up securely for storage. It also comes with a special long handled narrow brush for separating hair sections and brushing through the voolomed hair as well as a set of three heavy duty clips for holding hair back while you're sectioning. The clips come in their own cute little branded bag. I have spent more money for both flat and curling irons that had none of these features or accessories, so I'm very impressed by the Voloom. It is clear that a lot of thought was put into its design and packaging. It really does give long lasting volume to hair. I'm very pleased with my purchase and will recommend the Voloom to everyone I know.

Game changer for fine / thin hair
My hair has always been super straight/fine and hard to deal with. Then once I hit 50 it got worse....it got thinner and started breaking easily. This tool has been Aaaaahmaaaazing! It’s cut my hair routine time down and I’d give it 10 stars if I could. Takes a couple times to get the hang of how to use it for your style. I have a mid-length bob and you have to be careful that you don’t end up with a total flat top and poofy sides. If you have layers it will help avoid that. I live in a very humid state and it holds its own against the humidity. Wish I knew about this years ago. Totally worth the price. My hairstylist also thinks it’s helped the health of my hair because I’m not teasing/backcombing as much and don’t use as much hairspray as I was before. The combo of those two was contributing to my hair breaking. With this product I don’t have to “mess with it” as much to achieve the desired affect. Someone complimented me on my hair the other day and I literally was shocked and thought they were kidding at first but it was a super ego-boost and I think Voloom is a big part of that. I didn’t get anything for posting this review. It’s just that awesome!! If it’s particularly humid or I know I’ll be outside a lot that day I spritz my roots with a Kenra heat protectant that also “holds” like hairspray
