I see no indication on the box or the lame itself. There’s a little card in the box that says you can find “everything you need to know” at breadbosses.com/VIPBreadLame. I did a quick look and didn’t find the answer to your question, though.

Does the tool handle and the attached blade all fit in the box? Or is the box only for the blades?

The handle is in one piece and both the handle and blades fit in the box. Just a note though, when you need new blades, you can purchase the same blades at Walmart and they can fit on the handle too.

Does it work better than a box cutter knife? Those work quite well and can be adjusted for maximum depth of cut.

I found it works better than a box cutter blade, as the blade itself is thinner and I can have better control over the cuts with this lame. It can be a little difficult to adjust the depth of the cut with this, but overall, I find it easier to use than a blade.

I’ve had a couple different lames and this one is by far the best. I love the box. It’s always been a challenge storing my lame in the kitchen drawer without accidentally cutting myself.
