Dr. Mercola is a maverick
Excellent book that is easy to read. Lot's of good information. I appreciated the sections on choosing the right foods for your metabolic type. I appreciate his research into just about everything. He clearly provides medical insight into products that can harm your health. He also provides resources and suggestions on how to improve your health. He is not just addressing diet, but your entire lifestyle. I also appreciated his guidance on supplements and products that have been proven for their purity and quality. This is a great book for anyone interested in drastically improving their overall health. Dr. Mercola's approach in fairly consistent to Dr. Jordan Rubin's "The Maker's Diet". The books complement each other well.

Great recipes!
The text about the diet is on an introductory, beginning level and does a good job there. Don't look for a thorough treatment of metabolic typing, but everything essential to get started is here and easily understood. But the recipes are really great -- the book is totally worth it for the recipes. They are written as for a "Mixed" metabolic type, and then below the adjustments to make for a "Protein" type or for a "Carbo" type, and this is very educational to learn how to modify recipes for your type, so that has been invaluable too!

Insulin Resistance
Because I have been diagnosed with Insulin Resistance, I was very interested in Dr. Mercola's experience and knowledge. He has a unique perspective not available from most doctors. It was particularly helpful to find out what kind of metabolism I have. This has helped greatly. I feel more stable now.

Wonderful health book!!!
I borrowed this book from a neighbor and loved it so had to own it. I am looking forward to finding out my metabolic type as well. It's good to see that he doesn't advocate every supplement on the planet thereby breaking you but uses a few crucial ones. Hopefully this book will help my change my food lifestyle and add years to my life.

Dr Mercola's Totatl Health Recipe Book!
Okay, I agree the book has some good information but I was a little mislead. I've read many of the same things in other books but what I didn't know is that the book is 75% cookbook and 25% actual reading material. I was disappointed with that and I did send the book back. If I wanted recipes I'd buy a cookbook. Just a warning to those who are expecting more.Also, the few questions you are asked that tells you if you have a protein, carb, or mixed "metabolism" you could figure out on your own. Nothing revolutionary here. I think the Mercola website covers most, if not more, of this information already. I wouldn't waste the money on the book.

An informative read.
A ton of good information. Many people complained that half the book is recipes, but it makes total sense. His program is designed to teach you how to incorporate his nutritional advice into daily life, and that involves a lot of eating. I think its the perfect balance of information and applied information.

I bought this book because I have been following Dr. Mercola for years, and I am particularly looking at nutrition right now. Have not had a chance to read it yet, but I fully expect to see all the evidenced -based recommendations that I typically find with Dr. Mercola.
