Always use this for new plantings.
I have lousy soil which I am trying to improve with compost and cover cropping. ALL of my shrubs have survived (2 years now) and I believe that they were given a good start with this amendment. I will always use for new plantings.

Biotone from Espoma
I use this product when planting and transplanting in my garden. I like the results as it always gets the plants off to a good start. The only con in my opinion is the smell. Not an earthy aroma, but strong and somewhat unpleasant to me. Still in all, a 5 star product.
