Totally worth it. Clear water and no worries.
I bought this in December 2016, it's February 2017 now and I'm very happy with this product. It has made my hot tub, a 450 gallon Calspa, as close to maintenance free as possible.I adjust the PH before every use, it tends to get low(6.5 or so). That as simple as tossing a cap full of PH Down in. Then after ever use, I toss in a cap full of No Chlorine Shock. As for the device itself, I have it set to run for 5 hours. And try to have it run late at night. It doesn't have anyway to set the operating time. It begins generating chlorine as soon as it gets plugged in. Then it automatically runs again 24 hours later. I heard someone say they plugged theirs into a timer switch (like one you would use for christmas lights), I think that's brilliant and will probably do that someday. The house I lived in before had an in-ground pool and I had a similar experience with it... it was a maintenance nightmare before I had a Salt System installed! Always fighting to keep the chlorine levels high enough and frustrated with cloudy water. After installing the salt system, life got a lot easier. So I was VERY happy to find a salt system made for a tub tub!My advice for anyone considering this.. Get it! It works great. Has made life, as a hot tub owner, much more enjoyable. Some random advice...• I use Dead Sea Salt (you can find it on Amazon). I like that it's good for the skin. But you could also use regular Solar Salt (the kind used for water softeners).• You will still need to do partial water exchanges ever so often. I drained and refilled my tub Feb 1st, about 2 months after the initial install, because the water got a little cloudy and I couldn't get the chlorine level high enough. I have 3 kids, that use the hot tub so, yeah the water can still get dirty (high TDS) and need to be drained/refilled ever so often.• I bought an electric Ph tester (like $15 on Amazon) because that it about the only thing I measure/adjust now.• I'm considering buying an electric salt tester, but it's not really that important. The device has three lights (Low Salt, Normal, High) which is good enough, I think. Salt doesn't evaporate, the only reason you need to ever add more is when you drain/refill the water.

Works great, but had rust/corrosion issue
This product worked perfectly, the salt water experience was SOOOO much better than Bromine. My issue is that after 6 months of use I started to see signs of corrosion on my metal jets. I switched back to bromine but unfortunately it was too late, my heater and pumps were damaged. I had to replace both. Just a warning to those who may switch to salt, it didn't work out well for me.

awesome product wish I found it sooner
I have had this in my spa for 7 months now and other than checking the salt and chlorine levels have not had to do any maintenance what so ever.we use the spa 1 to 2 times a week and run the solaxx for about 4 hours a day for a 600 gal spa. when I first put it in I started at 10 hrs a day and within a couple of days the chlorine levels were way to high. At 4 hrs a day the chlorine levels are still in the high range but I don't like to use algaecide either. So put one of these little babies in you spa and throw away your chemicals. Awesome product:update:It has been almost 5 years now and I can honestly say this is the best purchase I have ever made for my hot tub. Literally maintenace free water, just have to clean the cell once a year and use a little PH- when filling with fresh water. I was a little worried about the heating unit and pumps when using this over the long run , but I have had absolutely no problems, and the water always feels and smells soft and fresh.Dont let the pool and spa guys talk you out of this so they can sell you high priced chemicals. This is all you need.

Don't waste your money, unless you like hot tub rashes
Solaxx customer support is weak. It took several attempts before they admitted that their instruction manual was wrong (look at the lbs of salt vs. ppm chart in the pdf manual, available online). Also, the manual doesn't say anything about having to shock your system with Chlorine before using their product, however deep within Solaxx website you'll see that recommendation. After getting two NASTY cases of hot tub rash (lots of horribly painful zit like boils), I'm returning this product to Amazon for a refund. Thankfully I learned how bad this product was within the 30 day return window. Novel concept, but not well executed by company thats in denial/hiding their product's shortfalls.

Used it for 1000 gallon dog pool. It bubbled ...
Used it for 1000 gallon dog pool. It bubbled but did not produce enough chlorine that could be measured. This is in contrast to the bigger version which I had the opposite problem. Chlorine was always measuring too high. Could only run it a few days. If I forgot to turn off no swim therapy that week.

Couldn't be happier
Works exactly as advertised. Took a few days to find daily best chlorine generation time period, which turns out to be four hours for my small Hot Springs 225 gal tub with light use. Haven't needed to use either sanitizer or shock treatment for three months, water still seems sweet and clear. But understand that this is not a chlorine-free system; the salt-water generator is used to generate the same level of chlorine that is required when adding chlorine sanitizer. The quality advantage is that the chlorine level stays almost constant and doesn't require daily testing and chemicals. I went on vacation for three weeks and returned to find the tub ready-to-use.I plugged the control box into a ground-fault outlet on my screened porch and ran the generator cord, which is at least six feet long, under the screen to the outdoor tub located about three feet away. The control is lying on the floor just inside the screen. I put a small plastic box, perforated for ventilation, over the controller to protect it from blowing rain. So far (3 months) this arrangement has worked with no problems.I couldn't be more satisfied.
