NikonWU-1b Wireless Mobile Adapter

Okay, first thing first: the seller perfect. as describe, fast delivery, no problem.The product: like everybody else comment, the product is fantastic and work wonderfully, the apps SUCKS, even the "new" one. I tried both, yuck... shame on Nikon. Now, I read the very useful of Mr Cheema (January 9th 2014) which say: " the Android app "DSLR Dashboard" supports this wireless adapter and that changed everything. DSLR dashboard is a free Android app that is a million times better than the Nikon app. The Nikon app lets you control the shutter. That is it. Full stop. Period. DSLR Dashboard essentially lets you control the entire camera. Shutter speed, ISO, WB, aperture etc. etc." and he is right what an apps. exactly as he describe it. Completely unleash the potential of the transmitter. Thank you for your advice Mr Cheema! Buy the mobile adapter, trash the apps and use the free "DSLR Dashboard" and you will be a very satisfy with the mobile adapter.

I had my D600 for some time, but also have a Sony A7 (builtin wifi) and it play memories app. Playing around with Sony wifi I wanted it for my D600 too. So I have both to compare and what feature it has over the other. Sony play memories is actually better, but this device works fine.Both equal at:* Both allow you to take photos remotely with touch screen AF. Save file to your cellphone or tablet.* Both turn off after a short period of time, which I fine annoying. I understand wifi drain battery, but if I want to keep it on, let it be.* Both support Apple and andriod, but not window. I do have a window phone.* it works, that is a good thing.Sony advantages:+ You can change the camera settings on your tablet/cellphone like the shutter speed and aperture, but no on nikon software.+ Sony wifi is built in so you don't have a stupid dongle attached to the side, this is where you hold the camera, Nikon! Your next d620 or whatever should have it built in, even canon 6d has, get with the program.+ Sony use NFC which is faster to connect.Nikon advantage:+ It connect to wifi faster then on the sony (sony nfc is faster, but it has 2 ways to connect)+For wifi you don't have to enter any wifi code as you do for Sony (if you don't do NFC on Sony).So this is more like a 3.5 stars as I would prefer this builtin. It works fine, but not having the phone/ tablet control the settings is lame and should be added.

Works as advertised. I like being able to see my pictures on a 10" tablet immediately after I take them. I marked down ease of use slightly because configuring Androids as point to point wifi devices is a bit tricky, especially w/ newer version of the O/S. Overall functionality is excellent. My wife likes hers, she has her D3300 download to her phone while taking the pictures so she can share on the spot.

A simple but missing to older Nikon cameras for wireless transfers from the Camera to several devices, Macs and IDevices in my case. Stores in a simple case to hang onto a strap and hangs with a simple cord as a dongle. When plugged into the USB jack on the side of the camera, it allows Remote Shots with the camera, and draws it power from the camera when you switch it on, and can stay there until you don't need or want it any further. I will just be using it to wirelessly transfer from to my computer or IDevices for editing.

I read the reviews, then I went to YouTube to get some idea how to use this product, to determine if it was worthwhile acquiring. Based upon my research, despite some possible misgivings, I acquired the device. It works, sort of. However, all I wanted to do is control the taking of a picture from Live View using my iPod or iPad. It was painfully clumsy to use. I experimented with the device for two hours, with the idea of working out any technical issues, pilot errors, etc. I could not control the camera other than take a picture; I would set focus, and it would take the subject out of focus.Considering the cost of the D600, and the lenses I acquired for it, the WU-1b software (ios, not android) is so handicapped as to make use of the WU-1b with the camera so restrictive in what you can do as to make it undeniably useless (how's that for a run on sentence?).FYI - no problem with the vendor, or getting the product. It is the product itself that makes me wonder why Nikon, one of the top rated companies for cameras and lenses, allow such an incredibly poor piece of technology to leave the shop.Sorry, Nikon. I am SO disappointed; you get 99/100 on everything I have acquired from you so far; this product gets a 9/100.Oh yes, I am a College Educator. Here is your grade for the WU-1b: FAIL.
