Are these fully galvanized, or only the roller ? Can they be used for an outside project ?

Both the roller and the bracket is galvanized. Due to the material being galvanized steel, they are prone to rusting if left outside during rain or other seasonal weather conditions. These rollers do easily pop out of place if they need to be replaced

What size hardware to secure it to a 2x4?

Hello, These brackets have 3 openings at 13/32" OD x 5/8" Long. The rollers are spring loaded so you can remove the roller from the bracket, assemble it to the 2x4 then pop the roller back into place. I hope this is helpful!
