The seller gets a 5 and the game gets a 3.
The seller a 5 and the game a 3 you might ask? Well the simple answer the seller sold me a new copy of the quarry, Supermassive games sold me a mixed bag. The game could have been a 4 or 5 but the Dylan character and the annoying Brenda Song character were too much in nearly every scene. Both are not good characters for different reasons, Brenda sounds like she is phoning it in, literally. Some of the game is good, the look and sound are great, the story is decent but has its share of stupid moments. I like the cinematic type games like Heavy Rain, Indigo Prophecys and until dawn but the controls are hard or sluggish for some people (my fiancee for one) but the quarry finally made the game playable while still being competitive. For instance, you can change the buttons to be hit to any random button or as simple as just press either analog in a certain direction. You can also adjust the timing of inputs in various situations. The best part was after finishing the game and getting 1 out of 184 endings we could watch the game as a movie where everyone lives dies or plays based on the attributes you give each character. I wish until dawn had that feature. The game did crash a few times, once being a big enough glitch to need the update downloaded again. This is basically the sequel to Until Dawn which is why we bought and finished it but it seems the game studio which also makes The Dark Pictures Anthology series is going in a w o k e/girl power direction over the last few games. Pretty telling to me that as a gamer I find Until Dawn and Man of Medan to be the studios best games and it's before w o k e was so forced into everything. I won't give any spoilers for those who want to play this game but the game has you pick who to kiss in a game of truth or dare and the options are the 2 most annoying characters I mentioned above, I thought that was funny.

Sets a new standard for story driven horror games!
One of the best gaming experiences I've ever played through! 2K has a real gem here, and clearly have unlocked an incredible amount of realism I didn't even know possible on the Series X. Every game should look this good, particularly with the characters, their facial animations, and detailed rendering, perfectly matched with top notch voice acting. But the outstanding visual presentation wouldn't mean much if the game itself wasn't all that great. Not the case here. The story, a classic summer camp horror, is compelling, creepy, and full of interesting and tough choices to make, a la Don't Nod's "Life is Strange" (and if you don't know that one either, please do yourself a favor and play through that one as well!). There are also quick time events to keep you on your toes in some of the more active sequences, and many of the conversational choices are timed, so you'll need to think quickly. What's really remarkable here is just how much a lot of your choices actually affect the countless outcomes of the game, not just the ending, but from moment to moment too, giving this game an overwhelming amount of replay value. I honestly can't say enough good things about The Quarry, so before I bore you to death, please grab yourself a copy and have at it, especially if you're into cinematic, story/choice-driven survival horror!

One of the most enthralling games I've ever played
This game is such a blast. On my first playthrough, I just went in "blind-folded". I didn't look up any guides or read too much into the game. I just heard good things about it, and played all the way through. I love how this game doesn't outlast its welcome. It feels like a good solid adventure, and I must've blazed through between six and eight hours. That said, the game has tons of replay value. I'm on my second playthrough, and just having a blast. This time, I AM using guides, because I want to work my way through the platinum trophy. It's just as much fun later on. The actors in this game did a really good job. I noticed several of them later on in TV shows, and the story-telling is just great. I'm more of a hands-on type of gamer that plays more arcade and fighting style games, but I'm glad that I gave this one a chance. It is not really challenging per se, but you can definitely get eaten alive if you're not careful. This game was very engaging and pulled me right in. I loved the forest-camp settings, and it really made me want to go to a nature reserve or camp in real life and go on my own adventure. I really recommend wearing some noise-cancelling headphones or being in an otherwise quiet place while playing this game. The sound just adds to the eerie, campy atmosphere. I don't want to forget to mention that this game has some funny moments, and all-around great writing and acting. Highly recommended for those who like narrative adventure games, or someone like me who generally doesn't but wanted to try something different.

With the move toward digital libraries, it is great to see that some games can still be purchased in a physical format. This game runs very well on the XBOX Series X. Visuals are stunning, almost cinematic, and the gameplay is a lot of fun. The story is engaging and interesting although perhaps not quite the level of Until Dawn. Perhaps it is the nostalgia talking but there is something special about inserting a disc and playing a game with friends.
