Back-to-School Chaos? Victory Achieved.
I bought these composition notebooks for one of my kids during that back-to-school chaos — you know, when summer is reluctantly saying goodbye and fall is forcing its way in. It was a total whirlwind, but I tossed them into the cart and hoped they'd do the trick.Fast forward a bit — no complaints about the notebooks, and then I saw a kid actually using one to do homework! Cue victory music because, folks, that’s a legit parenting win. A kid using a notebook without fuss? I'm feeling like the most successful mom on the planet.Solid notebooks, zero drama, and a slight boost to my mom pride. 10/10 would buy again.

Now you don't have to go to Walmart
I recently purchased some hardcover books from Amazon Prime to use for school, and I have to say, I'm impressed. Despite being in school for about two weeks already, I needed these books to reset and start fresh. When the books arrived, I was surprised at how quickly they came, arriving the next morning. The quality of these hardcover books is exceptional. Not a single page has fallen out, and they feel just like books you would buy in a store. They're sturdy, not cheap or flimsy at all. Each book contains all 200 pages, and I'm certain that none were ripped out before I received them. I even had to count the pages for one of my classes, and they were all there. What's also great is that after three months into the school semester, there are no little bends on the corners of the books. They're still clean and tidy, even though I haven't used one of them yet. Overall, I think these books are excellent quality and definitely worth the purchase. They've held up well and have exceeded my expectations.

Value + Nostalgia + Sufficient Quality
HistoryMore than 20 years ago, Mead Composition books were everywhere in middle school. These were the laptops of the day and back then I used the first-generation Pilot V5 pen in conjunction with these notebooks. And now, more than 20 years later, I've found the Pilot Precise V5 Stick Rolling Ball Pens, Extra Fine Point, Blue Ink, Dozen Box (35335) and the updated Mead Composition Book, college ruled this time around, to be a perfect match for my use. I needed a notebook for making notes to myself, writing ideas, and taking inventory of life. I only recently found that "disposable writings" such as these are better suited to writing long hand, rather than electronically. And having used more expensive notebooks in the past, I found the current-generation Mead Composition book to work perfectly for me.Compared to the others (Moleskine, Clairefontaine, Rhodia)About a decade ago I started using other brands of notebooks, first it was Moleskine which was decent and had some nice touches. However, I cannot currently recommend the Moleskine Cahier Journal (Set of 3), Pocket, Ruled, Kraft Brown, Soft Cover (3.5 x 5.5): set of 3 Ruled Journals as the paper has become rather cheap and the price does not justify the quality, for my needs at least. The Mead Composition book has thicker pages and more quality feeling pages than the Moleskine notebooks, hands down. The same is true for the Moleskine monthly planner in the large size, it is a huge disappointment because the pages are thin and ink bleeds through.Clairefontaine and Rhodia notebooks are top quality, buttery soft pages, solid bindings, made in France, and I highly recommend these notebooks if money is no object and the notebooks are being used for an important purpose. The quality is the highest I've found in notebooks, however, they are four to five times the price of the Mead Composition book and currently too much for my needs.Best value outI became interested in these Mead Composition books after seeing a crowdfunding campaign to bring back higher quality composition books. I learned about the rich history of the black and white cover of the original composition book decades ago. However, the crowdfunding price was nearly $20 for each notebook, so I found that for my use, the Mead Composition book is perfect. The cover isn't thick and hard like it was years ago, the pages are rather cheap, but they are thick thus preventing bleeding from my Pilot V5 pens. The pages do wrinkle easily, but I did count 100 pages, seeing how some other reviewers didn't have all 100 pages. The binding and durability doesn't seem that great, so I would give the quality of the notebook and pages 3 stars out of five, though it is fine for my needs.tl;drWhile the more expensive French competition has much better quality, for a disposable/idea notebook for $1.99, the Mead Composition Book cannot be beat based on price and nostalgia factor. Highly recommended.

Good
The Mead Composition Notebook in Black Marble design is a fantastic addition to my stationery collection. Its sleek and elegant cover immediately caught my eye, making it stand out from other notebooks. The college-ruled pages inside provide ample space for notes, and the size of 9-3/4" x 7-1/2" is just perfect for carrying it around. What sets this notebook apart is its durability. The 100 sheets are securely bound, ensuring that pages won't easily tear or fall out. It has become my go-to notebook for taking notes during classes and meetings.Additionally, the black marble design adds a touch of sophistication, making it suitable for professional use as well. It's not just a notebook; it's a stylish accessory for my work or study sessions.Overall, I highly recommend the Mead Composition Notebook in Black Marble to anyone in need of a reliable and stylish notebook. It's a great value for the quality it offers, and I'll definitely be purchasing more in the future.

the best!
Mead composition notebooks are the best and the sale price was so awesome I did a few double takes before ordering. Always would recommend Mead over other brands. They are more sturdy and less likely to tear at the middle seam.
