Permanent Fuel Tank Hold Down Kit

bought these brackets to hold down a moeller topside tank I installed. very easy to use and holds the tank tightly in place with no movement.

This product was needed to secure a permanent Moeller fuel tank in a boat I'm building. Harvard Marine has consistently provided the fastest service to Florida and best price. Well done folks.

Makes tank installation super easy..I could have made these but I don't have stainless steel laying around...one warning, I mounted one side of the tank close to a bulkhead with minimal clearance. It was difficult to start the screws holding the bracket to the deck in the tight space because stainless steel screws are not magnetic and would not stick to the screwdriver extension. The screws would fall into the tight space and I had to fish them out with fingertips. Not the fault of the part, just a warning.

First, you REALLY need to read the installation instructions that come with the tank before you use these. They're sized to hold a tank that has a 1/4" sheet of neoprene installed between the tank and the deck. Without that sheet of neoprene they're simply too big. Second, once filled with gas, the material in a new tank will expand ~3% in all directions over the first month. It's a chemical reaction between the gasoline the plastic, not just expansion due to temperature changes. So tightly clamping down a new tank could result in problems as the tank expands. Unfortunately neither of these bits of information are included in hold down kit - only with the new tank. Finally, these are really simple and could be fabricated in 10 minutes from $5 of aluminum flat bar stock. Not worth the price vendors are asking on the low end, and certainly not double that like some vendors are trying for on the high end!

these are te correct clamps for mounting a fuel tank on a flat deck.

I wanted to keep our 1968 Johnson Seasport 155 tri-hull, so I custom fitted a Coast Guard Approved gas tank in it. So glad I ordered the matching straps to keep the tank in place, it would have been madness to try making my own to keep about 100 pounds of gasoline from bouncing around in a boat---especially the way we sometimes take waves ! Gasoline is about 8 pounds per gallon ! Gotta be safe & legal !! Hal J

Hold down kit was delivered without any straps (4 were supposed to be included), and it is not meant for a topside fuel tank. which is what I ordered. It only fits certain tank numbers even though you are encouraged to buy it when you order a tank it was not designed for.
