Opened the remote to find no instructions about how to program it to my Philips tv. Looked up the name online, couldn't find anything besides the necessity for an FTA receiver Togo along with the remote. Apparently this is a satellite tv remote and needs a receiver to communicate with the tv? I wish I had known all that. I thought it was just a plain remote control for any tv.

Of course, it's definitely NOT a universal remote - I don't even know why that is in the description. Anyway, I bought this piece of crap to replace the piece of crap (remote) that came with the piece of crap (I-Link IR210 satellite receiver). Either or both the original remote and the receiver did not work. So, I tried a real universal remote that was supposed to work with that receiver. That remote did not work with the receiver either (It worked with another receiver, though). So I said, you know what, let me another original remote to see if, perhaps, this universal one is just not working with this because it isn't compatible (though it claims to be). So, I ordered this nonsense that I'm now reviewing. Would you know, this remote does not work. How am I even sure it's the remote? Well, I put in the batteries (new tested ones that work in another remote) and I press some buttons and point the remote to my phone's camera. Needless to say, I did not see the infrared light, as you would see on any other working remote (I checked others that are working, to prove this, of course). So, another busted new remote. NEVER before have I experienced a remote that comes with a product that did not work... NEVER! And I can assure you, I own and have owned dozens of appliances. I won't even bother to send this back. I will throw out this (I've already thrown the one shipped with the receiver) and the receiver - which, by the way refused to light up when I plugged it on to test this remote again. So, even if this remote was working - which it isn't - I don't even know if the receiver would have accepted it. Man, it's frustrating. Of course, I will NEVER buy anything from I-Link again. It's so bad, that I'm not even going to watch TV by my friend's house anymore, because he uses an I-Link receiver! It may sound like overkill, but I'm staying that far from this company!So, in summary... well, you know what the summary is!

Arrived as posted and just placed batteries and now that was it. Highly recommend it to replace your old remote.
