When I Build With Blocks (Imagination & Play) Paperback – Picture Book, June 7, 2012

This book was perfect for our Pre-K unit on building.

I loved how this book allowed for a new exploration on each page and how the pictures lined up with material we have in our own classroom.

This book is a great asset for block center in a classroom. Contains many ideas for students to create.

This is the best book I’ve found to help introduce the block center in my classroom. I have read this over and over and my kiddos never get bored with it. Such a fun read and a must have for any preschool teacher!

This is a great book for preschoolers. Highly recommend!! Real pictures of blocks and great ideas of what they can build.

I try to review children's books from my four-year-old son's perspective, so in that regard, I gave this four stars. As my son is a master block architect, this book really appealed to him. The pictures are rather simplistic, but I give the author kudos for using original illustrations rather than taking stock pictures and fitting her story to that. My son giggled, as he thought the kids looked like toys themselves, but he giggled in a good way. The thing to remember is that as parents and care providers, we buy these books to entertain or educate the children, we do not buy them to entertain ourselves. Out of the hundreds of books he has, my son has chosen this one on numerous occasions. He loves to see the different block structures in the book.

Helped students build better with blocks

My pre-K class loved this book. They couldn't wait to bring it to the block center to try to copy the structures illustrated adding a little of their own creativity to it as well.
