It's less comfortable than most remotes I've used, but the functionality and price combo is phenomenal, so it doesn't really bother me too much... But the discomfort of the remote was one of the first things I noticed.

Q: How do you "wake" the roku? once i turn it on with the regular remote, it works fine, but str or home does not wake it. using roku 3.

Q: Does it work well with samsung smart tv? Will I be able to switch inputs with the arrows and/or switch tv apps?

I have a Samsung 55 inch smart tv and this remote worked right out of the package. There is a home button that allows you to switch between apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, SlingTV etc. The only thing it doesn't have that the Samsung remote has is a "RETURN" button which is helpful when you want to go back a level without exiting the app entirely. I called Philips and spoke to them at length about this feature but there is none unfortunately. Other than that, this remote fits the bill very well. It also integrates with my Vizio sound bar nicely for good measure. Hope this helps.

Q: When using this remote watching blu-rays/dvds on an xbox one, are you able to fast forward/rewind and skip chapters?
