Brilliant kitchen aid
Delivered in good condition and in good time. This is a wonderful kitchen aid. I do think it is overpriced for what it is, but in my opinion worth it to eliminate the problem of tearing a piece of cling film and tying yourself up in knots with it! It cuts straight and clean and is SO easy to use! Don't try and threadle the film or foil through the visible slit, that is the runner for the cutters. The front removes very easily by depressing a button either side and pulls straight off the front. When the front is off, place the film in the top slot, the foil in the bottom. It has to be placed the correct way, which is so they unroll from the underneath of the roll as you are looking at it. Just unroll about half an inch so it drapes over the white panel on the front, clip the front plate back on and that is it! Couldn't be easier! The kitchen roll holder is also "simples" to replace. It just lifts out diagonally up and towards you! There is a knack in cutting clean which you will pick up after a couple of uses. When cutting the foil, I found it best to apply a little pressure on the slider to ensure it makes good contact with it. The film, just make sure it faces down vertically and it cuts cleanly also applying a little pressure. We had a party just after I received this and it made preparation so much easier and less stressful to be able to just cut and cover. AND, you will never have to pick out the end of the cling film out of the box because it has stuck to itself in the box! I did read in one of the previous reviews that it is more stable with 4 screws, (it only comes with 2 screws and raw plugs, but does have 4 fitting holes on the unit) so that is what we have done and it doesn't budge. It certainly feels more solid on the wall than loose. What a pity it didn't come with another space for a roll of greaseproof paper! That would have emptied my kitchen drawer even more! I had bought a couple of hand held dispensers which were useless! It had to be taken apart every time I used it to retrieve the end of the cling film. And the cutter was SO sharp that I cut my knuckles several times grazing them against the plastic tooth cutting edge! They have now been permanently relocated.... in the bin! I would definitely recommend this, not just because it does what it claims, but because it does it so well! You won't be disappointed as this is a real little kitchen helper, and I was surprised out how unobtrusive it actually was on the wall!

Absolutely brilliant bit of kit!!!!
I bought this dispenser after seeing a similar thing at a friend's. I read all the reviews here before buying and you'll notice the vast majority are very favourable. The few negative reviews I think are from people who did not know how to use the product and, in fairness to them, the instructions that come with this are pretty poor. Firstly, on opening the box, the quality does seem to be pretty lightweight and plasticky but when fixed on the wall (very easy but does need four screws - only two provided) it is solid enough and looks clean & functional and there is no reason to suppose that it won'tl last a very long time. Now loading! Because the instructions are so poor I looked at this thing and assumed that I had to load it by trying to feed the cling film and foil through the slots in the front panel. Idiot! No. It is so easy. You just put the rolls in the main part (fixed to the wall} with the leading edge coming up from the the bottom facing you (if that makes sense). Then pull the foil/film vertically down the front of the unit about half an inch, then, having moved the sliding cutters to the far left, push the front part of the unit onto the main part and that's it. It is so easy. Now all you do is carefully lift the edge of the half inch hang down, pull vertically down the front of the unit to the required length, slide the cutter all the way to the right and back again and you have a perfectly cut piece of foil or cling film. Incidentally, the cutters are different and film goes above foil. You can slip the front off any time to see how much film/foil you have left. I use 35cm film and 32cm foil and have never once had any scrunching up. Really quite perfect and wish I'd bought one years ago. I could also do with provision for greaseproof paper and baking parchment but what the hell? Freezer bag dispenser is perfectly OK but, for me, not essential. My only gripe is that I bought this at 35 quid and 2 days after fitting it it dropped to £21!!!!!!! That's life. It was a good buy at £35 - at £21 its a bargain. Buy it!

Pretty good - but there are some things to watch out for
This device works pretty well, but there are a couple of things which intending purchasers might note. Firstly, unless you're installing it onto a softwood or MDF panel, installation is a bit fiddly. You need first to screw it to the wall using the top pair of holes - which are, in fact, slots to allow for adjustment. Then, once it's correctly positioned and level, you need to mark the positions for the bottom pair of screws (which, incidentally, are not provided!). Then you remove the unit from the wall, and (very carefully and precisely!) drill the holes to take the plugs for the bottom pair of screws. Then, you can finally drive all four screws. Incidentally, you need to be careful not to tighten the screws so much that they break the plastic, so, as another reviewer has suggested, it might be a good idea to use soft washers to guard against this. Altogether, it's a job for someone with reasonably good D-I-Y skills. Next, when you're buying the cling film, foil and Scotch tape to use in the unit, you need to take care that their length, and their diameter (diameter is also important!) are not too great. It seems to have been designed as a slim line unit; personally, I wish it were a bit bigger and could take larger rolls. But, having said all that, It looks like a decent unit, and I'm pleased to have it in our kitchen. Note (15 months later) The blade of one of the cutting wheels has broken, so the device will now dispense foil or cling film, but not both. So we've removed it and discarded it. Not a very good buy, as it has worked out.
