Fab, gloopy soap, many uses, read below. The mystery of how to thicken it enough for soap dispensers is solved ...
I am so happy with this natural soap. Previously bought Dr Bronner's and this is so much cheaper. It is not only cheaper but gloopier, in a good way! I take a couple of tablespoons put in a few grinds of sea salt and mix it until it becomes a 'glob'. I then mix it to the required thickness with coconut milk and oil, you can use cooled boiled water, rose water or oil on it's own I suppose to enable you to keep it longer (never done this). I then add essential oils. It is silky smooth and thick, like commercial soap. Make it fresh and don't keep it too long if you use water or coconut milk, probably about 3 weeks or so (you can use it in the shower or as hand soap so it never lasts that long in my house anyway!) I put 1 part to 4 parts boiled water in a spray bottle with a few drops of teatree and lavender oil to clean everything. As it is oil based it shines up work surfaces and floors, but remember to buff it dry or it will be greasy. Clean your bath, sink and loo with a spray of this, a shake of bicarb, a rub with a damp cloth (and a loo brush and tooth brush for the loo). Rinse, spray with a mist of hydrogen peroxide to sanitise, dry off and hey presto, best cleaner ever with no nasty chemicals! One little thing is you have to add a few more drops of essential oil to cover the smell, it isn't horrible, its just olive oily. If you hadn't realised, I will be ordering again, and again, although this will last a good few months.

Excellent!!
I am so happy with this purchase! I have just put the 5kg bottle in my amazon basket. I bought the 1kg bottle several months ago to use as a handwash. We have 5 people in our household and 3 bathrooms and I just hated buying bottles and bottles of chemical filled, brightly coloured handwashes - it was costing a small fortune not to mention the chemicals it was exposing us too! I researched castile soap and bought the 1kg bottle, some essential oils and some empty clear dispenser bottles thinking was this going to work..........! Well it has and I am so happy!! Just used as a handwash for a family of 5 I estimate 1kg will last at least 6 months. The first month is more expensive as you are buying the bottles and essential oil (you do not need the essential oil but it is nicer to have a sweet natural scent after washing your hands - the castile soap doesn't really have a smell so not like you are trying to mask anything, you are just adding your preferred smell - the essential oil will last a really long time!! You just need about 10 little drops per bottle). I HALF FILL the dispenser bottle with castile soap then fill to the top with water and then add the essential oil and shake. Yes - the handwash is much more watery than the thick horrible stuff you might be used to with chemical handwash soaps but when you rub your hands together - it gives a good coating of soap and when you rinse it off you feel completely clean and cleansed without any residue. This is the way to go for handwash!! natural, chemical free, no dispenser bottle wastage as you reuse them for aslong as they work, you can tailor the scent with natural essential oils and it works out cheaper (not a HUGE amount but probably half the cost). I haven't used it for shampoo, body cleanser or laundry but now I am hooked I probably will!

Great for making your own toiletries or baby wipes
Great for sensitive skin - I used this to bathe a gravel rash with no irritation. Ideal for use in home made toiletries and baby wipes etc. The consistency is great, not too watery. Feels luxurious and creamy on wet skin. Cleans effectively. I used it after sport as a shower gel and it got rid of all sweat odours. Leaves skin feeling clean, doesn't seem to dry out skin like fragranced products do. A little goes a long way. No discernable scent, just a neutral, subtle hint of soapiness. Doesn't foam too much, just enough to get a lather.

Okay for the price but no match for Dr Bronner's
So this is a good Castile soap - I bought it as an alternative to Dr Bronner's which is admittedly very expensive. However, this is not a rival, by any means. It is simply not as good, it doesn't foam as well (I use it diluted in a foaming dispenser) and you need more of this to get the same results. It has a clean scent but again, nowhere near as strong as Dr. Bronner's so I think I will return to my usual, once I run out - sorry :(

Works great, even when very diluted, so great value for money.
Really good castille soap, perfect for sensitive skin and heads. I bought a refillable soap dispenser, and watered it down 5:1. This ratios works great, and means it’s great value for money too. I use one of those microfibre cloths for removing my makeup with just water, and as soon as I put some of the watered down mix on, you could see how much cleaner that part of it was, so even watered down its better than most soaps. Also works great with those silicone sonic face cleansers like the sunmay ones. I have tried it for laundry yet, but my husband likes it for washing his hair. Just one warning, when its watered down, it is very runny of course, but a small price to pay for not having so many chemicals in it. Very happy, and will buy again.

Liquid Castile Soap. Ethical, Simple, Effective. Boring....
I wish I could like this product better, but I can't. I've known Castile soap for years, even made my own version, back in the day. Yes, it's a very good cleaner for all sorts of purposes; it's produced using simple substances from sustainable sources, doesn't contain synthetic trash, PEGs, parabens, colour or fragrance. It hasn't been dripped into rabbits' eyes or scoured into the skin of small mammals to see what happens. I love the idea of this product on all sorts of ethical levels. And yes, it does wash my hair clean as well as my skin. And my kitchen. And my furniture. And my dogs. But it feels like I'm using chip fat to wash my hair with, even diluted with a little water. A 50/50 addition of vegetable glycerine to the soap is enough to act as a shampoo/conditioner, and when it's dry, my hair feels just the same as it would if I'd used expensive, branded products. I've tried thickening it up with salt, but that didn't work well for me. I needed a lot of strongly fragranced essential oil to cover up the natural scent of this soap and the Citrus/Bergamot varieties have the punch, but separate. As a shower scrub, I just didn't feel as if I was getting anywhere clean, although clearly I was. I want to like Castile soap, but using it feels like an institutional function. It's really boring. There's no indulgence. I have to close my eyes, scrub, and spare a thought for the bunnies.
