Brilliant little light
I've been using LED studio lights since they first came out and have owned quite a range from very very expensive - and quite unreliable - American made units to very cheap - and very reliable - Chinese made units. These new lights from Neewer are among the best I've owned and I'll be buying more. Things I like and don't like - Likes - - Sturdy construction - Very bright - Smooth RGB range - Easy to use phone app - Good carrying bag Dislikes - - Quite small - Most of the special effects are not very good To give a bit more detail... the construction seems to be very rugged, being largely made of metal I would expect them to take quite a lot of rough treatment (not that I'm going to do that). The maximum brightness is very good for such a small light and the colours, both the white colour temperatures and the RGB colours, are accurate and are smoothly variable both in saturation and intensity. Having a CRI of 97 they can give very nice skin tones. The phone app is easy to install and the lights connect quickly and respond well. On the negative side, the unit is very small, too small to give a soft, flattering effect. Neewer do make a soft box but I haven't tried it yet. I am concerned that too much light would be lost with the softbox and there wouldn't be enough power for anything other than the smallest sets. Neewer do make a larger unit, the 960, but it has a very strange ball and socket mount that reviewers don't seem to like. The only other things I'm not too impressed by are most of the special effects. some of them are too repetitive and have no speed control which makes them pretty useless. A few years ago I wouldn't have thought this was an issue and I laughed at the range of special effects available on a Rotolight I'd just bought - but then I used some of them on the very first job I took it on! In general, these are very good lights and I will be buying more. They're ideal where space is an issue or where you need a colour effect in the background or a coloured rim-light, for example. I'll also try the softbox and if it doesn't reduce the usable power too much it'll make them very, very good lights!

Quality LED Light
♦ Introduction ♦ I like to produce videos when I can to upload to YouTube or videos to go alongside my reviews on Amazon and have already invested in a couple video lights; however the issue I have is that I can't move them, let alone take them down without much hassle (I dread to think putting them back up), so I decided to purchase one that seems of decent quality and portable. I have owned several products from Neewer in the past which had mostly been decent in quality. First impressions were great as everything was packed neatly within a soft case (hard case would have been more ideal though); and the overall build quality of the main unit felt robust with the aluminium alloy exterior (not just the U-Bracket, but the casing of the light itself). ♦ Box Contents & Optional Extras ♦ - Box Contents: ∙ Soft case. ∙ Main unit (LED light with U-Bracket. barn doors & diffuser pre-attached). ∙ AC Adaptor. ∙ Power Cable. ∙ Instruction manual. - Optional Extras: ∙ Neewer Light Stand (Budget price). ∙ Manfrotto Light Stand (Premium price). ∙ Neewer 2600mAh NP-F550/570/530 Replacement Battery+Dual Charger (Use on the go). I personally own the Manfrotto light stand and can vouch that it's a very stable and decent quality product. I also have purchased the dual rechargeable batteries which work a treat if you want portability. ♦ In-Use ♦ This light can be mounted on a light stand, or if the U-bracket is taken off, there are 1/4" tripod threads on both sides of the lighting unit. - Barn Doors: The barn doors are detachable from the main unit via a Flathead screw in each corner. The doors can be fully folded in or out giving you decent adjustability/shape of your light. - Light Diffuser Insert: There is a tab on either side of the light that can be pushed down to allow space for the diffuser insert to be removed in need be. When you first use this product, the diffuser HAS to be taken out as there is a protective layer of film that needs to be removed. - U-Bracket: There is a wing screws on each side of this bracket which allows you to readjust the angle of the light itself. Once in the angle and the screws tightened, it really does keep it's position. One thing to bare in mind is that with the barn doors on, you cannot angle the light downwards; it can only be dead on. Adjusting the angle upwards is no issue with the barn doors attached. - Power Cable: The cable length is 2.4m which is okay, but for my needs I needed an extension cable when using it via the mains. The cable is split in two with the AC adaptor basically being in the middle which does result it hanging, luckily there isn't too much tension on the joint of the plug going into the light. - Powering & Brightness/Colour Adjustment: On there rear panel of the light you have a button which by default is set in the middle (Power Off); flicking it to the left will draw power from the batteries if you have purchased them, or can be switched to the right to use the power from the mains. There are two adjustment dials for the LED lights: One for the white LED's and the other for Yellow LED's. You individually adjust these to your desire or combine them for more brightness and a colour of light slightly between. This light is very simple to use and the brightness that can be achieved is also very good; well for my needs anyway. ♦ Final Thoughts ♦ This is undoubtedly a good choice if you're looking for lighting: It's feels very well built; it's easy to use and can achieve decent amount of brightness. The optional purchase of rechargeable batteries makes this light more portable which is going to be very handy for me too. So far I'm happy with the results and will update in the future should any issues arise.

Not bad for the price
EDIT: I'm amending this review having used this light for some time (Sept 2018) and found it more useful than I previously thought This is about what you'd expect for around the £100 mark. Not as bright as you would hope but still useful. It creates the colour range by having half white LEDs and half yellow LEDs and turning the brightness of those two banks of LEDs up and down Its usefulness as a video light is greater than its usefulness as a photographic light where it really isn't bright enough unless you are photographing small things and have it very close, or are willing to crank the ISO right up.(I write this as a photographer, if you want to photograph anything using artificial light get some flash units) However, with today's cameras being so good in low light this can be alleviated by upping the ISO and I've taken some nice photos using just this as a light source, some with the model holding the light as it's small and light, which gives some nice effects On the plus side: It gives a nice even light without flicker and the quality of the light is good. Having a battery operated option is great as it makes it very handy to take out and about. It would be great in a powercut. It's very light and packs up flat and thin so it's easily portable. On the minus side: The yellow only and white only light aren't that bright (since they only use half the bulbs in the unit) and I can't see me ever using it in anything other than the 'all the LEDs on' mode for maximum brightness which means I'd have been better off with the single colour light and I suspect you would too since the ends of the colour spectrum here are not very bright. If I wanted to use it as a fill light in a room lit by warm yellow lights or outside in daylight it wouldn't be very useful. The barn doors prevent the unit being tilted forward. I knew this before I bought it but I figured if I took the bottom one off it would enable it to tilt forward. It doesn't as the side ones also prevent it being tilted forward. So if you want the light slightly above the subject pointing down (which you mostly would) you'll have to take them off. In summary it's fine as a hobbiest photographic light used at the mixed yellow and white part light range, where all the bulbs are lit (so just buy the single colour one)

Great video and stills lighting at a very reasonable price
I've been a photographer since the days of film and back in the day the only way to get this amount of brightness was to use a mains powered studio flash or a big Metz flashgun. Tungsten lighting would have involved a massive floodlight, the likes of which you'd see on a Hollywood filmset, with a 1,000 watt delicate bulb! This unit is great, very powerful and can be adjusted to go dimmer - although not sure if 1% increments are really needed. The colour temperature balance adjustment is handy too, also great if you want to use it as a posh looking light in your living room. On that note, this is the best use for the coloured flashing light effects it does - be great at a home party. I can't really see a professional film maker using them - but they are there just in case. Great value unit and also comes with a nylon storage bag.

Good lights well priced
Bought for photography, audition swlftapes etc. Yeah nice product. Stupid place to put the plug power pack half way up the wire as they are top heavy lights when erected on stand and the weight of the pack can Contribute to a topple if gently knocked which has happened a few times. Quite dangerous as hard edges on actual lights. Nice and bright but not too impressed with the bright, medium or warm settings. I thought for the price they would have more variety but quite limited. I do love the lights though. Best purchase for a while. Easily packed away, taked up little space and easy and quick to set up. Price is good and I Do recommend. They work nicely for our needs.

Come into the light
Perfect for small studio setup. Very nice design and when fitted with defused tool and function very well. Great adjustable in the warmth of the laughter as well as positioning. Light a d easy to move, simple to setup and use and you can purchase battery packs it needed where there is no sockets. Depending on the settings it has a good battery life .

Overall good
It is bright, adjustable colour temperature to a degree (not that much variation to be fair but enough to match your white balance to on camera) and fits securely on a lighting stand. It’s everything it says but with two small concerns. There are two sets of screw holes to fix it to the mounting bracket. They both interfere with the barn doors but with a bit of playing around you should get it to how you want. If you have the light high up and facing down, the bottom barn door won’t open up much, no matter how you try.. Not a massive problem but a bit of a restriction. The other issue is cable length to the mains transformer. I ended up putting a Velcro strip on it and my stand and mounting it. Otherwise, you may find it has to hang in the air, not good. But, getting past those two issues, it’s a good sturdy light with plenty of adjustment, doesn’t get too hot or noisy and competes with products far more expensive. If I were a professional I’d want something better but a couple of hours of shooting music videos at home? Perfect alpha light.
