This filter cleared the murky water in my pond within 2 days. Water clarity is maintained even when the UV is turned off for a couple of weeks. The cleaning system is quick and very easy to use - can be done in a few minutes. Construction and design is sound. Only minor issue is that debris can become trapped on the inlet hose water flow paddle that eventually reduces the flow rate but this can be readily removed if required or cleaned as part of regular maintenance checks.

So it's not too bad to install, and.it has some fantastic features (especially the quick clean handle) but I found that once.you open it up to clean or replace the filters it is nearly impossible to refit the lid. I spent several hours trying to get the lid back on properly. You think it's clipped in and sealed, power it on and it starts pouring out the side. You switch off, try and refit the lid and end up repeating the process for hours. Once it does seal properly and go back on, you won't know what you did differently and will repeat it all again next time. Thankfully there is a handle you can rotate that squeezes out the sponges inside without the need to open it up, and then you can redirect the outflow to clean them without pumping the muck back into the pond. It seems man enough to handle all my koi, I have about 30 large koi in a relatively small pond. Water has been clear.

Couple of things: you need to buy a pump with this separate and hose clips to pin the hose to both connections on the filter and the one on the pump. At least 3 get a multipack like I did. You’ll need flexi hose and keep some spare hose for the outlet so you can spray far away from the pond. The photo is on the day of install and the video is 4 weeks later. I inherited this pond and two filters from the 80s when I bought this house which I tried my best to get working again but they costed a bomb and didn’t do the job. This cut my energy bills in half and has eliminated the green in 4 weeks. I will wait till 6 for a first clean so good bacteria has a chance to build but it looks simple enough to do. Maintenance wise I will just use the crank so year round and will replace the bulb and do the pull apart clean every year and will come back and update this post if I have any issues. I know this may seem obvious but as I’ve said hose and pump need to be bought separately so that means two power supplies not one! I’ve wired up a double socket that I can use the jet wash in etc or lawnmower.

Pressurised well, great filter system also fitted with a manual filter clean system , excellent piece of kit. Would hiley recommend this make.

Absolute rubbish. Arrived put it together and UV lamp did not work. Had to buy a new UV lamp. Worked for a couple of weeks then filter box electronics packed in. Changed plug amp still kaput now having to return item and the hassle that goes along with that. Disappointed to say the least. I have returned the item but not received my refund

Wow! Saturday I had dark pea green water, Tuesday it’s crystal clear. Purchased 12,000L which is oversized for my pond but it’s fantastic. I have used a green water treatment alongside, which I have used before and it never worked as quick or as good as the water is now. I even tried out the backwash and it was superb. I followed instructions and turned pump off, turned outlet switch to the hosepipe dirty water setting, turned the knob a few times, turned pump back on whilst continued to turn the knob. And the water coming out was filthy! I carried on letting out of waste pipe until almost clear before switching it back to the pond output. By far the Best Buy I have ever made in fish keeping. VERY HAPPY!

My main reason for buying this was to avoid the fortnightly job of cleaning dirty stinking filters. I should have red the details a bit more closely because while the model is fine for a 12000 litre pond it is only adequate if there are no fish in the pond. I have a dozen Koi, most of which are over two foot long so in the month I have had it there has been only a marginal improvement. I am not worried because the thought of not having to clear the filters overweighs that. Hopefully, as Autumn approaches I will see an improvement. The instructions could be a bit clearer. Minimum of six feet from the pond should really say six foot from the pump. My filter is by the side of the pond but eight foot from the pump. Also there is no mention of the fact that the filters need to be put back exactly as they came out, if you get one upside down it doesn't fit in the one above it. No mention of the little orange thingy that should pop up when the filters need cleaning. My one is full of pond muck from day one and I doubt if I will be able to see it when it pops up. Apart from these minor issues the filter is good, if only for the self cleaning facility. At present I am using the handle every other day and after taking the thing apart to see how it worked the inside was relatively clean. Something that's just occurred, there are no instructions as to how you change the UV bulb, that's not good.
