Cheapest,simplest,most effective way to connect my video card to my old monitor.

Wanted to mirror streaming from internet to MacBook on to a large screen TV without AirPlay capability or 3rd party application. A simple solution was required to enable me to instruct a non-technical person to easily achieve this and a cable between the two devices, just requiring plugging in at each end was an easy and inexpensive option. The video was mirrored as soon as the lead was connected at both ends, although if audio is required through the TV as well then this has to be redirected in the MacBook system preferences. One advantage of using a cable such as this is that there is no time lag between MacBook and TV or loss of synchronisation between video and audio which can be experienced on applications relying on WiFi.

Works with some graphics cards but others just yield in artifacting and intermittent connection issues.
