Product Description Tenth anniversary edition of the Shakespeare-inspired teen comedy drama. On his first day at his new school Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) falls head over heels for the gorgeous Bianca (Larisa Oleynik). However, he has a slight problem: Bianca is not allowed to start dating until her grumpy older sister Kat (Julia Stiles) has a boyfriend too. Cameron decides to act as matchmaker for Kat, and sets her up with a mysterious and moody loner (Heath Ledger) who may be the only guy in town who could put up with her. This version contains bonus footage which has taken the British certificate from a 12 to a 15.Synopsis:In 10 Things I Hate About You, Bianca Stratford (Larisa Oleynik) is a tenth grader who has never gone on a date, as her parents have a little rule where Bianca isn't allowed to go out with boys until her older sister gets a boyfriend. The problem is, while her older sister Kat (Julia Stiles) is attractive and intelligent, she's also a mean-spirited misanthrope who rubs nearly everyone the wrong way--especially boys. But Bianca and the guy she has her eye on, Joey Donner (Andrew Keegan), are eager to get their romance on the road, so Joey fixes Kat up with Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger), a new kid in town who may be just bitter and mysterious enough to suit her. All the while high school newcomer Cameron James (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) desperately tries to win Bianca for himself. 10 Things I Hate About You was the first feature film for director Gil Junger, and is a clever reworking of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. desertcart.co.uk Review It's, like, Shakespeare, man! This good-natured and likeable update of The Taming of the Shrew takes the basics of Shakespeare's farce about a surly wench and the man who tries to win her and transfers it to modern-day Padua High School. Kat Stratford (Julia Stiles) is a sullen, forbidding riot grrrl who has a blistering word for everyone; her sunny younger sister Bianca (Larisa Oleynik) is poised for high school stardom. The problem: overprotective and paranoid Papa Stratford (a dryly funny Larry Miller) won't let Bianca date until boy-hating Kat does, which is to say never. When Bianca's pining suitor Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) gets wind of this, he hires the mysterious, brooding Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger) to loosen Kat up. Of course, what starts out as a paying gig turns to true love as Patrick discovers that underneath her brittle exterior, Kat is a regular babe. The script, by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, is sitcom-funny with peppy one-liners and lots of smart teenspeak; however, its cleverness and imagination doesn't really extend beyond its characters' Renaissance names and occasional snippets of real Shakespearean dialogue. What makes the movie energetic and winning is the formula that helped make She's All That such a big hit: two high-wattage stars who look great and can really act. Ledger is a hunk of promise with a quick grin and charming Aussie accent, and Stiles mines Kat's bitterness and anger to depths usually unknown in teen films; her recitation of her English class sonnet (from which the film takes its title) is funny, heartbreaking, and hopelessly romantic. The imperious Allison Janney (Primary Colors) nearly steals the film as a no-nonsense guidance counselor secretly writing a trashy romance novel. --Mark Englehart Review: Best teen movie ever! - Love, Love, love this film. One of my favs and worked out cheaper to buy the DVD than download so now I can watch whenever I like! Review: A very good surprise - a teenage dating comedy, which is actually good, charming, full of wit and completely free of obscenities - I haven't been a teenager for a long time now and therefore romantic comedies about teenage dating are really, REALLY not my usual poison. But this one, inspired by "Taming of the shrew", I found EXCELLENT and I spend a really good moment watching it! Below, more of my impressions, with some limited SPOILERS. The story follows initially Shakespeare quite closely, even if the action takes place in American high school, in our times. By the orders of her father Bianca (Larisa Oleynik) can start dating only once her older sister Kat (Julia Stiles) gets also a date. The only problem is that Kat, although a very attractive girl and definitely not uninterested in men, is such a shrew that no boy is ready to go anywhere near her. Then one day Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a new student, fells in love with Bianca. Following the advice of his friend Michael (David Krumholtz) he hires local "bad boy" Patrick (Heath Ledger) to seduce Kat - and therefore open him the way to ask Bianca out. From that moment the story diverges quite a lot from Shakespeare's original, as it can be expected - and I will not say anything more about it. The greatest asset of this film is a strong scenario, full of good dialogs and tasty jokes but lacking any kind of obscenities. Let's stress it again, the two key words of this scenario are "GOOD TASTE". This film is many levels above typical teenage dating comedies, which are usually full of gross, embarassing and frequently obscene moments. The cast is excellent. Julia Stiles is SPLENDID, both in beauty and talent, every inch as good as later in "Dexter" when she played Lumen. It is really a pity that she didn't have a better career in Hollywood... Young Heath Ledger is AMAZING and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Charlie Krumholtz are very good. Gabrielle Union adds her glorious beauty to the show in a smaller role and special mention goes to Susan May Pratt who plays Julia's only friend, a girl completely obsessed with Shakespeare. Three other characters add a lot to this film: Bianca and Kat's father (Larry Miller), Ms Perky (Allison Janney), school guidance counsellor with a quite unique side business and last but definitely not least Mr Morgan (Daryl Mitchell), a very competent, very black and totally amazing English literature teacher. The chemistry between two main characters is very credible, the ending is not only touching but plausible and the soundtrack is absolutely fantastic - it is a real pleasure to listen to it. Bottom line, this is a very good romantic comedy, clever, well made, without embarassing, obscene or gross moments and at the end we are left feeling really good. Bloopers mixed to the credits are also a recommended viewing. ENJOY!

A good buy
First of all I think it's important to state that I'll be forty soon and still managed to thoroughly enjoy that film. So don't make an excuse of not being a teenager any more. This movie works for adults as well, thanks to the witty dialogue and the good performances of the two lead actors, Ledger and Stiles.I must say that the other two youngsters are not as good and I can't say I think very highly of their acting abilities. But they never spoil the fun.And as for the few adults in there, Alison Janney is amazing , it is such a pity that she is so little on the screen. She delivers her 'erotically charged 'lines (to put it midly) with such aplomb that you can only wish she had had more encounters with her students. The neurotic father is quite a character as well as is the English lit teacher. Of course there' s nothing intellectual going on here, it's a fun and very light version of the taming of the shrew but it manages to be entertaining without insulting the audience's intelligence and that's quite a feat nowadays!

10 things I love about this film!!
1. Storyline is supreme 2. Heath Ledger is brilliant! 3. Julia Stiles plays Kat so well 4. It had me in stitches laughing at points 5. Still gives me tingles even afer about the 40th time of watching 6. Slightly different to all the other teen romantic comedies 7. Despite what people say, it isn't as cheesy as some other movies 8. The acting is of top quality 9. Even for someone who doesn't like these kind of movies (i.e. my brother) enjoys it 10. It has become my favourite film of all time! Seriously, I cannot stop watching it! I love it! It appeals to the teenage girl in me as well as the strong minded (I hope!) woman in me! The soundtrack to the film is amazing and this film honestly had me near to tears at points. I can't believe i didn't find it sooner! Buy this film, you seriouly will not regret it! Come on, it's not a bad price either!!
