Make It Up: The Essential Guide to DIY Makeup and Skin Care

Having followed Marie on her Youtube and Humblebeeandme media accounts I was keen to have all the info in one place and that's exactly what we have here, in this book. If you've seen Marie on Youtube you'll know that she is a great teacher. She has a very methodical way of formulating and creating the recipes and her enthusiasm is catching and this transfers well to this book too. She helps make sense of what can initially be a little overwhelming in terms of the amount of information there is about making your own cosmetics and makes it definitely fun. The book is really well laid out, pictures are great and the fact that she gives examples for different face types and colours is an excellent idea. She has also always threaded her demos and wriitten advice with really essential information about the rights and wrongs of formulating and gives sound reasons for her suggestions. All in all and excellent book with a wealth of recipes, on everything from simple lotions to make up essentials. Really worth every penny. Well done Marie. Some simple and not so simple to get ingredients with sugggestions for substitutions. Hoping there will be a book for hair and body care too sometime in the future. Excellent book and can definitely recommend.

Humblebee and Me is one of the best resources in an area which is full of disinformation and drivel. This book is a truly useful collection of skincare and make up recipes which actually work, and do what they claim. It is clear, concise and trustworthy.

Love this book. Made serum, blackhead vanishing powder and four tubes of lip gloss in a morning and they all work well. Will attempt cleanser next. Lots of background information in the book so you understand what you are doing and why.

Great book for the beginner. Everything is well explained with lots of useful tips. Have tried a couple of the recipies and am hooked!

Absolutely love this! Would recommend it very highly. Cannot give it enough stars. Marie's recipes are easy to follow and as the book progresses, the options do also. Combined with Marie's blog, the book gives you a great place to start on creating your own make up.

Marie Rayma's extensive research and testing has resulted in an excellent, five star, honest, intelligent, and well written DIY guide to making make-up. One of the best DIY cosmetic books in my library.
