Very nice back plate. I have it behind diamond polishing plates in my buffer. I use it to polish carbide tool bits. Works great. Seems well balanced and it is fully solid (not hollow as another reviewer said). Make sure you buy the right version.

I have bought three of these so far. They are well balanced. I use this was diamond discs for sand gravers. you can attach this to your drill press with a half inch mandrel.

Disc arrived thick, heavy, and flat. I used a 1/2 inch bolt and appropriate nuts and washers, mounted a diamond wheel, and was easily able to shape some local mineral slabs into passable cabs by spinning the wheel in a drill press. I have no other experience doing this, except to watch a demo of a guy doing the same thing with a 1300 dollar Cab King at a local mineral show. My set up delivered a pleasing result and I am very happy with it. If you want to play at lapidary without a big investment this is a great purchase. If you do, please use a dust mask and eye protection. Silicosis is no joke and grinding makes a lot more dust than you can see.

Pretty good quality polishing disc base plate. A bit thin (7mm) so I had to add a thick fender washer to get it to tighten down on my flat lap machine. 8.75-9 mm would be ideal. One side is smoother than the other but overall nice quality. Perfectly flat. No wobble when the disc is spinning. It would have been nice to have both sides polished/smoothed to the same level, hence the 4 stars instead of 5.

Liked the first one so much I bought another.

This disc works as it should. I use it instead of costly acrylic disks on a flat lap with polishing discs on top.

Seamless transaction

I ordered this Aluminum Disc to use as a base for sandpaper discs on a drill press. I had previously ordered another brand and discovered that, while the quality was excellent, only one side was usable and the other side was hollowed out. These discs, however, are flat both front and back, giving you two usable sides. And the quality is excellent. Great value for the money!

the product is actually a 6" lap, so no use if you want 8"

Serviceable master lap, so will keep, but definitely not as described. I was sent a hollow one, not one that is flat on both sides, even though the photo description definitely claims both sides are flat.
