Excellent camera body
Ive used this as a main camera, now it's my back up after buying the 7DmkII. Anyone giving this camera bad ratings simply knows nothing about cameras. It has a very clear layout Canon has updated the firmware over the years, so it's a very different camera to the first batch hitting the high street. Their is absoluty no reason to say this isn't any good in today's world, as it simply is! Take a shot with any mirrorless camera and I can bet I'd match it with the 70D where in a blind test, the person who judges between the two formats would simply be guessing. Unless its personal bias or bring sucked into the hype, mags who receive royalties form manafactures, so like a two year old flagship phone that could do everything when launched, suddenly is usless two years on, as now they want you to buy the latest. Same with cameras, and let's face it one of the reasons mirrorless cameras has been brought to the front is their cheaper to build, only the format is in turmoil as to just what lens system is gonna rain king. If your wanting to step up from the basic DSLR this would be perfect, and a worthy upgrade. I've spoken to many photographers who are using mirrorless, and though their good, have said the hype over image quality is vastly over hyped, and most complain of poor battery performance. I gain nothing from writing this review apart from giving some much needed common sence and 35 years of experience in photography. I've seen many fads come and go, and all the finished shots never look any better, only more menus are added for more control, and the processing engine, and sometimes the CMOS Sensor. But it's still being feed by the same glass. And the thing that'll make all of the difference is you, and gaining experience. Camera equipment is gaining price these days along with everything else, so grab a bargain and go out and learn your art with experience, and knowing your using a best on the market a few years back, and even though newer cameras have come and gone, this is no lesser a superb peice of kit due to it. Ignore the bias reviews and people's opinions, enjoy the art, as right now the equipment arguments and ballsups producing, plus ever increasing costs are spoiling the hobby. On an ending point, I know a guy who still uses a 60D, as he's more than happy with the results, and isnt changing anytime soon. Plus a good friend who's an excellent photographer, and he's photos are first class not just of the 70D,but he's knowledge in the art! Food for thought for those who will listen, if not, soldier on!
