Best Bang for Your Buck!
These Opticron Oregon 8x42 binoculars are a great value. They are very well built with quality rubber armor that is easy to grip. The comfortable eye cups are easily adjustable and stay put. The view is clear and bright with good contrast. There is plenty of eye relief at 22nm. The objective eye covers and rain guard are decent quality and stay in place, as well as the case and neck strap. The only knock on these binoculars is the slight bit of glare while viewing towards the direction from which the sun is shining but not directly in the sun. I’ve mostly used Steiner AF binoculars for hunting but decided to buy a pair of roof prism binoculars for birding. I’ve tried several pairs of higher quality binoculars costing over twice as much, but these Opticron Oregons provide the most comfortable view. Overall, I’m impressed, and they come with a lifetime warranty to boot.

Solid product.
Quality product. I've used all sorts of optics over the years and these are the real deal. Funny thing, I poured over reviews, fussed, second-guessed but the moment I handed them over to my wife (who as much as I lover her couldn't tell the difference in the glass from a telescope to a Coke bottle) right away she said "Ohhhh these are good 'nocs". I rest my case.

Great binoculars -- consider other sellers
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Got these based on the Cornell Lab recommendation and they're great! Really happy with them. The colors are clear and the field of view is great. I One note on delivery (doesn't affect my rating): Amazon sent me the wrong item, the 8x32s instead of the 8x42s, *twice*. After that, I gave up on Amazon and bought them from one of the manufacturer's recommended sites, and shipping was even faster than Prime's.

Wow. A no-brainer choice with some qualifications.
Brief comparison of 3 binoculars purchased on Amazon and compared side-by-side over a few weeks. Purchased to help us watch soccer games from the back of the stadium, I also like to look at landscape and cityscape architecture. I am not a strong birder but will certainly be doing some of that. Looking at a finch on my feeder up close through binoculars was pretty great. I look forward to looking at seabirds especially pelicans. Opticron Oregon Oasis 8x42 $154 amazon warehouse Celestron Trailseeker 8x42 $285 Kowa BD II XD 8x42 $449 Size, shape, comfort: They are pretty similar. The Celestron is definitely heavier with the weight out near the the large objective lenses which is noticeable and seems fatiguing. The barrels are larger and slightly uncomfortable in my large hands. Stiffest focusing wheel. The Opticron is pretty neutral. The eye cups are firm and a bit uncomfortable. Nice focusing ring. The Kowa has a great balance. The smaller diameter barrels, surface rubber and contours make this a sensous joy to hold. Easily our favorite. Image. Again pretty similar. The Celestron dials into quick focus but seems to require effort from my eyes to make things look clear and sharp. Fatiguing to use. The Opticron image is excellent in bright light but less vibrant and more dim at dusk and looking into shadows. There is a slight tunnel vision sensation. The image is very slightly soft. Field-of-view is narrower but not terrible. The Kowa is very engaging, immersive and three-dimensional. The best of all 3 looking into shadows and in dim light. Following a darting dragonfly requiring continual focus adjustments was quite amazing. So, you get what you pay for, sorta. The Opticron is ridiculously good for the price. We are keeping it. The Kowa is simply a joy. Guess we will keep this also. The Celestron was disappointing. It goes back. Hands-on testing is the way to go.

Really like these
Got them to watch the backyard birds. Not too heavy and easy to focus. Good size. Glad I purchased these.

not 8x32
Ordered twice and both times 8x42's were sent. OK if you want the 8x42's at an 8x32 price but they are bigger and heavier.

Great! Finally a binocular I can use...
After returning two pairs of binoculars to two different stores, I bought these based on great reviews of these as "budget" binoculars. I thought I wanted smaller profile binocs, but I couldn't focus the darned things. These work perfectly for me (old 78-year-old with Panoptix IOLs). I can see the birds out my windows and the owls and eagles in the park. They don't weigh that much carrying around for a short time. I am very happy with these.

Absolutely brilliant. I've gone through half a dozen binoculars over the years of various styles and sizes and have been looking for that elusive perfect pair and these getty pretty damn close. I've been using them for about 6 months now. I previously had another pair of 8x32 Opticrons which were a bit more compact than these but the field of view was a bit restricted when wearing glasses. These however have a wonderful wide view even with specs. The image is bright and clear across a good portion of the eyepiece. Focus wheel is smooth and precise. Near-focus range is about 2 m which is great for getting a zoomed in view of butterflies and the like during the summer. There's no discernible spherical or chromatic aberration. There's a tripod mounting point which is handy. They're both light and sturdy in the hand and feel very solidly built. The neck strap is nicely padded, one side is a soft rubber and the other more fabric-y so it's easy to find something that doesn't slip on jacket material and something softer when wearing a t-shirt. The lens covers are also good and don't fall off which is welcome. There's some lens flare when under bright sun or looking across water for example but this is a fairly minor gripe. As these are good quality I've found the image brightness is equivalent to a larger cheaper 8x42 so I'd save the weight and bulk and use these. They aren't the cheapest in the world but feel like very good value.
