ASUS Thunderbolt EX 3 Expansion Card with Intel Thunderbolt 3 Controller - Black

Worked fine in my Asus Rampage v edition 10. I bought this purposely for a hackintosh High Sierra build to run a Presonus Quantum 2 interface and couldnt be happier! Although I wouldnt recommend that to a novice but in windows it worked with no hassle having installed the drivers and firmware update.

I should have listened to the reviews. I've got no problem with installing new hardware, but this was cumbersome and fraught with problems. The PC needs to be rebooted several times before it shows in the BIOS, where you need to enable it and tell it which slot the card is in. After this it wasn't appearing in Windows despite downloading the latest drivers. I found that it only worked in one slot (ASUS X99-DELUXE) despite all the specs suggesting otherwise. When I did finally get the ports to show up in Windows, they had power only. Plugging any device in just didn't show, even on the USB with devices that worked in other ports). This was an expensive mistake and a waste of two days. Do yourself a favour and by a different brand - a quick Google will show you that many people have similar issues that they're unable to resolve or only solve problems intermittently.

Allegedly this Asus device was compatible with my ASUS motherboard - Asus told me what to buy!!!Maybe, but certainly Windows wouldn't support it. As soon as I plugged in my external GPU Windows 10 gave the blue screen of death.Spend about 6 hours reinstalling and trying to get the vendor to understand the problem, sent them the Windows dump files which they seemed incapable unzipping or giving me any useful support. So ended up slinging it stripping the graphics card from the eGPU installing it direct into the PC.

Doesn't work with my motherboard, which lacks a 36W thunderbolt header that is only provided on expensive motherboards that require expensive processors. Will look into weather my power supply can provide the correct connector, but disappointed I didn't do that research beforehand, because I wanted to use a coupon before it expired.

Easy to physically install and provides a high speed link to external Thunderbolt devices eg, Samsung MU PB1T0B/Portable SSD X5 Thunderbolt ssd. However, could only get it to work from a W10 PC after installing the driver hotfix TbtFwUpdate_1.0.0.15_release from the Asus website. This requirement took quite some time to figure out.

Works as described, full thunderbolt 3 working on asus z270 A motherboard.Working with an Apple Thunderbolt 2 display and passthrough from the GPU, so I consider that success!

Avoid this like the plague,brought this hoping to run some studio gear from thunderbolt,it simply does not work i installed it into a asus z390 a prime motherboard,updated the bios and still the board can not see the card,so many issue ive now found online with this piece of junk nearly everyone has the same problem ive tried updating the firmware for the card but you cant because the windows cant see the card,so simple review DONT BUY IT
