Rajah Jeera Ground Cumin, 100g

I usually buy spices in those little glass jars that you see in supermarkets for £2 - £3 each. They are displayed on shelves with spring loaded catapults that push the jars forward when you take it out of to inspect it making it virtually impossible to put back and you sheepingly put it in your trolley for fear that one of your fellow shoppers sees you trying to dispense with it on the wrong shelve. I always think it is a waste when you thrown the jars away but they are handy in the store cupboard and someone has had the great idea of putting the name of the ingredient on the top of the jar so that if you have them stored in a low cupboard (like me) you can see the contents without having to pick it up. This Rajah Jeera Ground Cumin, 100g comes in one of those plastic bags that have a zip seal for freshness and, here is my life hack, you can put the contents in one of the glass jars and use this as a refill. The only slight technical issue to overcome is making sure that you can get the cumin into the jar without spilling it. This is easy enough with a simple paper funnel that you can make with a single sheet of paper. You may find that the paper you use may be a little stained from the cumin but that will be a talking point if you were to, say, use the sheet for a letter to your pen pal or maybe write a shopping list; when the check out person enquires why your shopping list is written on yellow tinged paper you can re-tell this story to everyone in the checkout queue and I guarantee they will be intrigued and amazed in equal measure, especially when they hear what savings they can achieve. It tastes just as good as the jar cumin too. I had it in a chicken curry recently and it was delicious.

Delicious, such a great aroma. Great for currys but also works wonderfully on turkey steaks, beef steaks, lamb steaks. If you’re ever just frying chicken throw a few teaspoons in, the smell alone is worth the money. Makes every meat taste better. Stays fresh and great value for money

Perfect and a whole lot cheaper than buying smaller jars from the supermarket

I like the deep rich taste of this, I use it to make tea but I'm going to cook with it as it has a different deeper flavour from others I've tried which tend to be overpowering, but this one is tasty and nutty
