PAY ATTENTION if you are seeing this item listed on the North American market. The item I received was the European version. It is not mentioned anywhere, but it is actually crucial. The seller is in the UK, or at least ships from the UK. The version is omitted from the listing – maybe intentionally or they may simply be clueless, but before purchasing any TP-Link devices from them, you need to make sure they are NOT the European version. Unless your hub is also a European model, you will not be able to pair them together. These devices were made to use different frequencies according to the region they were intended for. This comes directly from TP-Link. It will come up in the web searches when you’ll try to figure out why you are not able to pair your new device. I’m not sure if links are allowed in reviews, but you can simply copy and paste the following in any search engine: “What Should I Do if My Tapo Sensors or Buttons Won’t Connect to My Tapo Hub?” They also provided a few photos in there, so you can easily understand what to look for. Just in case, I will repeat TP-Link's instructions here as well. It’s very easy: to check what region the device was intended for, simply locate the Model NO, either on the back of the box or the device itself. In both cases it will be written above a barcode. The region code will be at end of the Model NO, in brackets. For this item in particular, it looks like this: “MODEL NO. Tapo S200B(EU).” You should see EU (Europe), US (North America), or some other 2 letter code. They are “region” specific, not country specific, so don’t expect a CA for Canada, for example. AGAIN: you need the same 2 letter region code on both the hub and the device you want to pair to it, or else they will not “see” each other. PLEASE do not take the information above for granted. My intention is to point you in the right direction, but do you own research before purchasing. Look at your hub’s model number, ask questions, ask the seller, ask TP-Link customer service, etc. Good luck!

Smart bulbs and buttons are great but having used them for 10 years now, they come with a lot of issues. One big one is that the reality of smart kit is that you need some way for everyone to be able to use them. For example, are you going to ask your parents in law to download the app, give them admin permissions and to use the app to switch the bathroom light on? No!!! So this is where these handy buttons come in. I have persevered for years with Lifx and Flic buttons and, the flic buttons run out of power all the time, disconnect and also they're not very robust. Add the crappy Lifx bulbs into the equation and you have a system thats just unrelaible. These Tapo ones are like night and day better. Firstly like all Tapo kit, they're so easy to add into your network. They literally take 30 seconds. You can then create all kinds of things to do on a "click", "Double click" and also rotate. The flic buttons had a click, db click and long press, but I don;t miss the long press at all. You can be creative with the tapo buttons. So for example. I have a set of bulbs toggling ON/OFF with a click, I have the landing light on a double click and you can actually turn a bulb or set of bulbs on/off using rotate left and right too. Its quite intuitive to use in fact. The buttons come with a metal back plate that can be stuck or screwed to the desired location. The button then magnetizes onto that so you can take them off and leave them at your bedisde and then replace in the morning. The bad thing about that is you can lose them or even mix them up but thats not happened to me. They're big but I kind of like them and the little ones find them easier to use too. The white colour makes them fit in well with existing classic switches so the size doesn't really make them an eyesore at all. 2 months later and I have had no disconnects. One power outage saw all my Tapo kit come back to life and connect without any issues or re-setup needed at all and they are really fast to operate and also just reliable. So far, by far the best smart buttons I have used. With the rpice at £11 too they're the cheapest!!!
