I've had this now for 6 months and it continues to work flawlessly in determining moisture content in our plants and pots. Just make sure to wipe off excess dirt and moisture after each usage to preserve the metal tip from rusting and malfunctioning. A useful tool and a good value for the money.

One of my New Year’s resolution is practicing sustainability. Last year I not only received a lot of Amazon shipping boxes and junk mail that ended up recycled and thrown away, I produced a lot of leftover vegetable scraps from cooking that ended up in the garbage bin. I’ve read that homesteaders and professional gardeners use earthworms to chow down shredded paper, shredded cardboard boxes, and vegetable scraps into perfect gardening soil (the earthworms produce beneficial microbes and micronutrients that plants love). And so I invested in the Urban Worm Bag that is kept in my garage, but I needed something to help me indicate that the shredded stuff inside the bag is moist enough for the earthworms. It’s perfect and works really well. The worm’s castings will be used to plant more fruits & vegetables, the fruits & vegetables scrapes will then be fed to the worms. Rinse and repeat.

BUT IT'S LIKE THEY USED TO ADVERTISE WATCHES WITH, IT TAKES A LICKING AND KEEPS ON TICKING. IT HAS NEVER ONCE STEERED ME WRONG IN THE AMOUNT OF MOISTURE IN THE SOIL. I DEPEND ON IT BECAUSE I HAPPEN TO BE A PERSON WHO OVERWATERS, CAUSING PLANTS TO DIE YOUNG. WITH THIS LITTLE GARDEN TOY ON BOARD YOUR PLANTS WILL FLOURISH AND GAIN NEW HEIGHTS THE GAUGE IS SIMPLE, IT JUST TELLS YOU RELIABLY WHETHER OR NOT THERE'S MOISTURE IN THE SOIL. GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY. JUST DON'T PUT IT IN YOUR BACK POCKET AND SIT ON IT!

Easy works great

My plants were not doing well and this device told the tale - broken sprinkler line underneath and they were way too wet at the roots, really dry on the surface. The meter worked exactly as required.

We bought this to replace the one we lost. Read tine instructions - this is a finicky device. The instructions are clear in one area - if the needle does not move, water the plant and try again in 20-30 min. We tried it on every plant we own - it was always the same reading. We then watered several plants and waited 30 min - no change in the needle. Sometimes when you carry the device to a second plant, the needle swings wildly to Wet (Max). We plan to return it for a refund.

This is the best water reader out there. It’s simple and exact.
