Product Poses don’t do it Justice
The poses in product images make this figure look silly, when in fact the articulation and design of this figure is one of the best I’ve seen. Because the character is supposed to be a ninja, the way it can be posed to reflect that is really great. It’s actually more articulated than one of the original GI Joe/Action Force figures which is impressive considering it’s also a transformable toy. And the transformation, although complicated at the start (I find the instructions a bit too small to see everything properly), the motorcycle is also a very cool design.

A great addition to legacy, stuck in the shadow of the original release.
The arrival of Transformers Animated Universe; Prowl, to the Legacy line of figures was exciting, as this would be the first figure of the character released in over a decade. The current team at Hasbro have consistently put out quality and innovative figures throughout the Legacy, and Prowl is no different. Plastic quality is above the average of the line, paintwork is clean and picks out details of the slightly stylised sculpt of the character. Iconic details such as the large chin and visor of the character have been given attention, but the figure will still stand comfortability amongst other figures in the Generations line of Transformers. Articulation in robot mode is impeccable, allowing dynamic posing suitable for the agile Cybertronian ninja. His accessories include two collapsible shuriken, that store conveniently in vehicle mode. It’s design details such as these that have been brought over from the original animated figure. The bike mode is sadly the weakest part of the figure, made more disappointing when you compare it to the sleek, seamless police-bike vehicle mode of the original animated release, back in the late 2000’s. It holds together well, and the transformation is fun, if a little unclear in the included instructions. However, the bike mode you’re left with is full of gaps, and the previously mentioned throwing stars that are required to fill in the wheel sections can fail to fully close for some figures and cause the wheels to catch on the ground as they roll. My figure was not plagued with this particular issue however. This is a great figure, with minor flaws that are only exacerbated by the incredible design and execution of the original figure from a decade ago. It’s a little annoying that problems like these had solutions even then. However, that’s not to say this figure isn’t worth your time or money. Pick this guy up for your collection or as an entry point into the franchise even at full RRP. A MUST buy if on discount.

Difficult to Transform
Purchased for a 10-year-old for Christmas and we (a number of adults at the Christmas table) had a near impossible time transforming it into its bike form despite following the (minuscule) instructions. It’s one of the poorest designed Transformers we’ve come across. Figure itself is great when in Transformer mode and has a great pose but too frustrating to give a high rating to.
