Can the jug open from the down?

Don't understand the question. However, the jug locks/unlocks in the base with no problems

is this good to chop the meat ???

Please don’t buy this blender. I was very disappointed with mine it didn’t last up to 3months. No it’s not strong enough to chop meat. I never used it to grind anything hard. Just tomato and onions and Less than 3 months the engine stopped

how heavy is the glass jug?

The jug on its own is 1.3 Kg. Hope that helps.

Is any plastic in contact with the food, for example is the base and lid plastic? Also is the grinder in contact with plastic? Or is it made of steel?

The grinder blade is obviously steel, but the motor shaft that drives it is held in a small plastic base. Otherwise the food is only in contact with the glass sides. The top lid is also plastic. I hope that helps.
