I have been loyal to Folgers for 25 years, but in the past year or so it just hasn't tasted the same. So I started searching for brands that have been around just as long, longer or that I remember from my childhood in the 80s. I went searching for Brim and Maxwell House then I remembered Chock Full o’Nuts brand. I looked it up to compare and was most intrigued by this Uptown Express with Extra Caffeine. I threw caution to the wind and ordered it. I drink my coffee black and I tell you I was quite impressed with the flavor of this little gem. From here on out I am a Chock Full o’Nuts man.

It’s coffee, but if you’re looking for a serious caffeine boost, this doesn’t stand out. Yes, it technically has more caffeine added—but it mostly just tastes like a basic dark roast. The flavor is so-so. I just wish they had called it “dark roast” so I wouldn’t have bought it. Not terrible, but it falls short of what I was hoping for. I’ll finish the bag, but I won’t be buying it again.
