Best value watch I have ever purchased. Somehow got this on sale less than half the retail value. IMO it’s the best looking of the fugu line and I think it’s been discontinued. The rubber strap it comes with is top quality and feels great. I used this watch everyday all summer long working in a marine environment and can say it withheld the elements amazing. It gets beat up and I definitely don’t care for it properly but it’s held up amazing. I would definitely buy this same watch again for even retail price again if I were to lose mine.

I like this watch a lot. I had a Seiko Orange Monster from 2005 which was also an automatic movement like this one. But the Seiko finally wore out. I had a fling with a Casio Pathfinder and an Apple Watch...both of which still work. But there is something cool about a watch that has no electricity. No batteries to replace, no overnight charging...they just work. My only complaint is that the day date is gray lettering on black and hard to read. If I had to buy it again, I'd probably get the version with a more legible day date. I do love the spinning bezel. It's very retro but also a time tested way to measure elapsed time in a workout. It gains about 5 minutes a month, which is fine. I'd rather be early than late. The rubber neoprene band is also surprisingly comfortable. I'd planned on getting a nice aftermarket metal bracelet style band, or switching in my metal Seiko watchband. But this band is sweet. It has just the right amount of stretch. Pro tip: put a piece of clear thick packing tape over the glass. Trim it tightly to the round glass with a razor blade and magnifying glasses. No more scratched watch face. Good work Citizen!

I wear this watch every day and it keeps excellent time. It’s an automatic so no battery, but it gains only about five seconds each day which for an automatic is more than decent. The quality of construction is excellent as well. I did replace the flexible rubber band with a bracelet out of personal preference.

The watch is magnificent. Build quality for this price range is as good as it gets. Easy to read. Great lume. Everything lines up perfectly. The sapphire crystal is eye catching. Red bezel offsets the black dial well. The size is perfect - wears smaller than 44mm but it does have some weight to it. I own about a dozen watches. Some costing double, even triple, of the cost of this watch. None are made better. I highly recommend this watch for watch enthusiasts.

I bought this because I used to own a similar Citizen promaster years ago and missed the style. I was drawn to the red bezel on this version and like that it has sapphire glass instead of mineral. The bezel action is excellent with crisp clicks and very little play. The combination of polished case sides with brushed top looks good. The Fugu puffer fish engraving on the back of the case is really cool. So far it keeps very accurate time on the wrist, about 2 or 3 seconds fast. Off the wrist it runs a bit faster, maybe 8 seconds per day. This version is 44mm. It wears well but my wrist is about 7.5”. I think it would look too big if my wrist was any smaller. The only thing holding me back from giving 5 stars is the crown action. The second hand jumps when I pull out the crown. That’s strange. I like for the hands to be stable when I pull out or push in the crown. Also I would prefer a 9000 series movement from Citizen at this price point.

It’s a nice looking watch and keeps decent time. About +10 seconds a day which I can live with. The thing that makes me upset for a watch at this price point is that the bezel is not properly aligned. I have Casios that are better aligned so for a Citizen I expected better quality control. Also, the rotor is loud! I can hear it clanking around when I check the time. While these things are rather minor it’s still a disappointment. I have several other Citizen watches that are pretty much perfect therefore I know they can do better.

I really like the way this watch looks and wears. The wearing is much better than you would think for a watch like this. Accuracy is on par with other mechanical watches at this level. The strap is supple and for me very comfortable. The face is nicely detailed and “pops” when you look at it. The date day detail is difficult to read in low light and i think would be better if it were reversed; white background with black font. For the money it is excellent value.
