Excellent battery life
Battery life is fantastic compared to the smaller one I used to have. Definitely get at least 30 days before having to recharge. The smaller tracker I was lucky to get 4/5 days. Makes having a beagle so much better knowing that if they do get off the lead then I can track them for days/weeks

Great GPS
I haven’t had the GPS that long. But so far it’s been working great and I am yet to charge it. I have a Bernese so the size is not an issue and totally worth it with the bigger battery.

Great product but with a couple of negatives
Tried a couple of other trackers one of them being Pitpat but found that it took ages to locate the satellite which could resulted in the dog being miles away. The Tractive is far better. On opening the app near on instant location which in our case helped getting the dog back quickly. I only have few slightly negative points one is that there is a home zone which is far too large I hope in the future the developers give you the ability to size the area yourself. The next thing is the size of the tracker it is massive. I have a Labrador and have had to rename the dog Asbo as it stands out a mile like an offenders ankle tag. The other is that you have to pay for a full 12 months tracking up front there is no monthly payment option. Apart from the above it is worth the money and I would recommend it 100%

Just works
Works well, this replaced a pitpat which was just not fit for purpose, anything down to 24 hours battery life and fatal flaws in the app that leave you staring at your phone instead of looking for the dog.Tractive (admittedly the xl version) at this moment has 50% battery after 12 days and every time I open the app it just shows me where the dog is. The reason this works is that it uses your home WiFi to know that it doesn’t need to be active and using significant battery, so indoors it is just ticking over, it just rings in and tracks when it can’t hear your WiFi, which in most cases will likely be all the time it’s at home and not escaped! I imagine it would be a lot worse if you spend all day away from the house with the dog, but it’s able to have multiple WiFi networks set up so I can add the ones where I regularly go and it just works.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC SCAM OF A COMPANY
Avoid avoid avoid avoid - the tracker itself is mid at best and poor at worst but the company itself is the true red flag. The tracker says your dog is in a completely different place to what it is, the radar and Bluetooth don’t work when it’s even a meter away and the light and sound are so pathetic that the only time it would be of use is when the dog is an arms length away. The company is all but an outright scam. They make contacting customer service deliberately difficult and the support through email is beyond useless, the FAQs say to contact customer support but customer support does nothing but copy and paste from the FAQs!! They are unhelpful and there is no phone number to call when you’re going in circles with the online help (I’m 25 and in tech so would like to think I know how to navigate a website). The tracker subscriptions are sold with a 30 day ‘trial’ supposedly where you can get a refund but upon actually trying to enact the refund you’re sent on a massive roundabout journey. You have to request it via a section on their website which doesn’t do anything but turn off auto renew (well within the 30 day cancellation window) when contacting customer service you go through an hour of them trying to refer you to the FAQs which simply send you on the route to cancel auto renew. Upon probing them they finally enable the refund which isn’t the end of it as you then need to follow another link to CLAIM the refund which is insane. Following all of this I am still now stuck with a £90 tracker though as for some obscene reason you have absolutely no ability to get them to delete or unlink your account - I was told I have no power to ask them to delete my data? How this is even legal I don’t know. They said if I’d have asked to switch to a monthly subscription prior to cancelling my 5 year subscription they ‘may’ have helped me but as I’d cancelled I have no power and my account will be linked to this tracker for 5 years no matter what. Also note if you cancel and want to reinstate your tracker later you are still locked into the same plan and in my case would have to pay the £240 again with no option to cancel or select a different plan. None of this information is given up front, it’s simply sold as a no harm no foul trial.Do yourself a favour and just buy a cow bell for the collar and avoid the pain of dealing with this useless and unethical company

XL is bigger than you might think.
I was attracted by the battery life of the XL model so ordered one without fully reading the product notes. When it arrived I was surprised how big it was. Far too wide for a young (14 months/26kg lab). It was not secure enough on his collar and looked disproportion and odd. I returned it toAmazon who sent a next day regular size replacement even before they received the return. Refund of the balance came a few days later. Well done Amazon.I have used the regular sized tracker on 3 dogs over many years. One was a flight risk so my main priority was the tracking function. As it turned out we never needed to use that. Keeping an eye on his activity level as he got older became important to make sure he had enough activity/exercise (in minutes) but not too much. Excellent for that. However finding yiur way around the health/welfare/exercise info could be made more intuitive. When a tracker dropped off in long grass in open country we didn’t notice until later that evening. The following day I linked the track function on the app to Maps on my phone and the app led me to within a few feet of the tracker. Impressive!
