I bought this for PE lessons and the end of playtimes. It's small and light and is not too bulky on my staff lanyard. It's very loud! I haven't quite worked out if it can be blown to make a less noisy blast but it certainly works to halt all the children on the playground and school field! Recommended.

Don't need to "Blow" Too much to get nice "Loud Sound".

Great whistle.

Brought a black metal acme thunderer and even though the sound was good, once the paint started to come off it started to lose it’s appeal. Also if you’re carrying it on a lanyard it’s a little noisy and you sound like an alpine cow walking down the path. The plastic one, doesn’t have that issue. It’s light, well made and also it works well on both sound levels.

Wanted LOUD whistles for a couple of female relatives living in London for their safety and security. Good, lightweight, well made and LOUD whistles. Everyone should carry one.

As an official using this whistle I find the pitch of the whistle works well for indoors and also out in the open.

I was looking for an item that didn't need batteries, and I could keep it on my key chain when I'm out walking my dog late at night. After reading the reviews I decided to purchase the item. Well, I'm glad I did. This is a very loud whistle. It's the right size, it doesn't feel bulky, it fits nicely on my key chain, and it's great value for money. I'm happy with my purchase, the item is as described, and I would recommend this item as well as purchase it again if needed.

Introduced to the Acme Thunderer in the early 70s, my family has used them for dog obedience training and for three generations of lifeguards over the past 49 years. As a former lifeguard instructor, the Acme Thunderer is ALWAYS my choice over the more common lifeguard whistles. The whistle performs PERFECTLY while soaking wet, and adequately EVEN when FULL of water, believe it or not. The cork float ball is the secret to its success. The plastic is durable and the whistles last forever. I only need a new one when I lose one or when I give them as gifts.

This is a real whistle. It is very loud w/o much effort blowing. Like the ones sports referees use. It seems solid and tough too.
