At the price a great travel tripod
As others have said a travel tripod is a bunch of compromises so what are they with the Rollei. The positives, nicely made, decent ball-head ARCA compatible, one leg is a monopod, if rather short, and above all it is small and very light. There are spikes under the rubber feet for use on rough terrain and the weight hook for extra stability is decently solid. It really does tuck into a rucksack water bottle pocket and the case is fine too.The compromises; it could be taller but then wouldn't be so easy to store/carry, the thinnest leg extension is thin but reasonably rigid and a weight bag/rucksack will add rigidity to the whole structure but it will not be that solid in a high wind. The twist locks on the legs work well but snap latches would be quicker to deploy. I can't see what purpose the spirit level serves since it is never in the horizontal plane ( unless in portrait mode) being on the end of the locking screw on the ball-head - why?So overall it's lighter than the Peak design and a fifth of the price, slightly shorter and maybe a bit less rigid but for me, as a take anywhere tripod that weighs next to nothing, it got the compromises right. If you want something to stick in or on a rucksack that doesn't make you feel you are on a major expedition and can pretty much forget you are carrying it's absolutely great. After all the decision is usually," can I be bothered to take a tripod on the chance I will need it" With the Rollei it's pretty easy to say "Sure why not". Remember it's a LIGHT WEIGHT travel tripod and judged as such pretty damm fine at this price.

Super Compact
I bought this for streaming/filming fitness classes from home and on the go. I couldn't be happier with the build quality and materials. There are no compromises here with a great quality all metal ball head and satisfyingly smooth operation of the leg mechanics. The tripod is easy to unfold and set up in an instant. With the whole thing easily compacting back down to the seemingly impossible size of 31cm. I added a pan and tilt tripod for even smoother operation. One of the most versatile, lightweight, compact and capable tripods for the price. I strongly recommend.

Nearly Perfect.....
As a tripod this is worth SIX stars, its absolutely superb. I had bought one of the numerous cheaper carbon fibre tripods initially, (Andoer QZSD Q999C Pro Tripod Monopod Carbon Fiber- £90), but it was flimsy, the leg mechanism was rubbish and it still weighed 1.5kg. This Rollei is like a Rolls Royce to the Andoers Lada. It weighs under 900g, feels really well made. Is quick to put up and down, has a hook underneath to hang a stabilising bag / weight on and just WORKS so nicely. The head rotates independently of the ball head - I really wanted this feature - so you can smoothly pan whilst keeping the ball locked and the camera level. The Manfrotto BeFree tripods DON'T do this. The reason its NOT getting 5 stars is the Monopod conversion process, which overly complicated and requires a unique spanner (supplied). You unscrew a leg, unscrew the ball head and then have to undo a recessed nut to get a plate off which then screws onto the leg. If you lose the spanner you might struggle to find a replacement. Really you have to do this at home and choose tripod or monopod mode before you go out, which is a shame. Given how well its designed in every other respect, this seems clunky and should have been better thought out. At the very least the spanner should attach neatly somewhere to the tripod.By the way, don't take the spanner through airport security in your hand luggage, it won't be allowed through. I nearly lost mine this wayOverall its a great tripod, well worth the money and is a delight to carry and use.

Better than I originally thought!
This thing fits in a osprey sling bag!with a Sony a6000, sigma 18-50mm 2.8, some filters and accessories (tight squeeze) but perfect for travel. On arrival wasn't too keen on the turn knob legs but got used to them. It's obviously not as sturdy but I'm not going to be out wildlife'ing. When it's broken down to fit in the bag it's not going to be a rapid set up but again don't need that. I really quite like it now. I'm 5"5 so it's tall enough for me and that's not at full extension

Recommended Travel Tripod.
This carbon-fibre ultra travel tripod is very good value for money IMHO- a lot better than I half expected it to be, and I was ready to send it back if not content with its quality. It works very well with my Olympus E-M1ii (though with my heaviest lens attached, a 40-150, it may be approaching its limit). I have marked it down to 4 for sturdiness, but that may well be rather harsh, as it is acceptably sturdy IMHO bearing in mind that it is specifically marketed as light and compact at very reasonable price.

Really Impressed
Very clever compact and clever design that allows me to take it easily on my motorbike. Appears to be made of quality materials as well.

One of the best I have purchased.
A tad expensive but worth the money. I use this regularly out in the wild of Scotland and it has never let me down. It is sturdy but light and compact and very well made with excellent materials. Several of my friends have purchased one of these on the back of my purchase and all are happy with it's versatility and strength.
