Kinetic Sand, Deluxe Beach Castle Playset with 2.5lbs Play Sand, Tools & Molds, Sensory Toys for Kids Ages 5 and up

This set is great. The sand is flowy but doesn't stick to my hands. The castle pieces make really nice shapes out of the sand. I was surprised that the flowy sand packed tight enough to make shapes hold. Castle pieces and sand fit perfectly in the box, but with no extra room. The box is cute, and I think kids will enjoy the creative options it gives. I bought this for sandtray therapy, so I kind of wish the box had a flat bottom. I learned the hard way with another set of kinetic sand -- don't get it wet. I washed my hands and used a 3 lb bag from Michaels, and now it is kind of sticky and warm. It still works, but it is not as nice as this. I could be wrong about what happened. Hopefully other people will share if they have similar issues. I also bought the 5.5 lb box here on Amazon. This has a courser feel, and slightly moister. My first impression is that the two would not mix well. That is my only issue. I would like to have more than 2.5 lbs of sand to work with. If I do find more sand, it won't fit into the box. If the 3.25 lb bag from Amazon is similar to the 3 lb bag from Michaels, then that is probably the best bet for mixing. The 5.5 lb sand review redirects me here. So I'll say more about that. It's a lighter color and very fine. It still sticks to itself and not to my hands. It feels really good. It's a drier, smoother feel. I tried it with the sandcastle pieces, and it does hold its shape there. This sand is a lighter beige, while the sand castle kit sand is a darker, courser brown. This sand is great for sandtray therapy. The sandtray figures don't get dirty. The sand comes off easily. The sand is mesmerizing. It feels good to play with.

It said this for a 5 year old but my 2yo loves to play with it! Of course with supervision making sure he doesn’t eat it. It’s very interesting because there’s no mess at all! You also will get the lid to cover and store everything! Makes it easy to store the toy without a mess! Also it’s not drying at all and can be used over and over again! Good for sensory play!

Wonderful. I want a larger size. Grandkids 4 and 7 play with it daily. They got it at Christmas. Quality products! No clean up. Feels good in your hands. 7 year old is autistic and he loves it.

We love it and use it constantly! My girl is definitely a mess maker and though we accidentally lose sand each playtime, there's still so much left. The container is great and keeps the sand fresh, while offering a cute little playscape. Really easy to take along on trips and holds closed well. Littles may get frustrated by packing the sand too tight and not being able to get it out of the mold but good for ages 5.

Great price and lots of fun for our 4 year old. Easy to open and there are variety of building molds.

This is one of my favorite kinetic sand kits and our most used. The box + lid being included makes for a perfect storage. I purchased this near black Friday sales so it was a really affordable price and I picked up extras to keep on hand for parties. I purchased this for use by my 1yo and 3yo but it could easily be engaging for sensory seekers of any age. Included: 4 castles 1 flag/knife combo 1 rake 1 boat/shovel combo 1 bridge 1 door Lots of sand Box + lid- box has "steps" built in for play This sand is thicker + more adhesive and gritty than the colored kinetic sand of the same brand. This is not a con, just something to be aware of as I originally had planned on mixing our colored sand into this but decided against that once I discovered the texture difference. Additional ways we play: 1. Hide and seek- I add bugs or small animals for the kids to find, dino dig, animal safari, etc 2. Hand prints + foot prints- my 3yo loves to make a print then cut it out 3. Shape smash- make two different shapes and have them smash the shape you say 4. Stamping- discover what shape different objects around the house make when stamped into the sand 5. Drive mom crazy- put sand into 25090 different Tupper ware containers

My little one loves this Kinetic Sand Castle Playset. I love the idea of the box because it keeps all the sand in the box. The moulds and tools are made of durable plastic, and they will last a long time. The sand never dries out, and it's so satisfying to play with. I always play with my toddler and I really enjoy it. The sand sticks together, so it's quite easy to clean up any mess if it drops out of the box. The playset is easy to store and perfect to take on the go. I find the kinetic sand better than the Play-Doh, it is less messy and retains its condition well.
